i started watching hockey when i lived outside of stpaul MN at like 6 or 7 years old i didnt fallow it much but i started watching hockey when i saw that it was on tv after my dad took me to a highschool hockey games.. I watched the North Stars until they moved to texas and 1 year later my dads work moved him down here and i watched games now and again.. then my uncle got season tickets for like the 5th row as part of his job in sales and he got to take me and my cousin any time that didnt have to take a client... then the lead singer to my band was a hockey player and we used to go to a lot of games and we turned most of our friends into fans.. hockey for my group of friends is actuallly bigger then football and that is exstreamly uncommon here in texas... Dallas stars
::Edit:: plus when you and i are married the stars/wings is always a good watch and will make for some nice friendly **** talking and team bashing..
Sergie Zubov was just amazing at being exactly what where he needed to be and doing what he needed to do when he needed to do it and made it all look so effortless.. the move that made him my favorite was a no look saucer pass across ice that went over the stick of a defender and hit his target right on the tape.. decipte getting more ice time then any other D man at the time for the stars Zubov would go have a cig break between every period and i have a weak spot in my heart for anyone that embracesses that kind of rock star, you only live once kind of attitude..
BQ2: Jumbo Joe Throat'n becuse most people know my hate for him and im not shy about giving my opinion no matter how bias and unwanted it may be...

Washington Capitals are my favorite team. I grew up in Tennessee, so the only Hockey I really got to watch was the NBC game of the week which was usually Boston vs. whoever. so, my first team was the Bruins. Then when I was transferred to Andrews AFB I started looking at the Caps. Their community outreach programs are second to none. I've had the chance to take my kids skating with a few of the players, (My daughter is the one in the black jacket & caps hat skating with Backstrom on the first episode of HBO's 24/7) The players will come out into the parking lot after practice & sign autographs & interact with the fans, and the clencher for me is that they have a strong military support program as well. I'm currently deployed to SW Asia & missed my daughters birthday (again...) The Caps gave her tickets to the game for her birthday (Feb 26 vs. the Pens) to try and make it special for her since I wouldn't be
there. Everyone working with/for the Capitals are a class act and seem to really care about their fans.
Favorite player has to be Patrick Roy. I think he's a great goalie & I loved watching him make spectacular saves.
Most arguements has to be Varlamov. I like him as a person, He's really good about hanging out in the parking lot & talking to the fans, but I think he's an overrated goalie and doesn't need to be our starter. I think Nuvy & Holtby are better goalies and will be able to carry the Caps deeper into the playoffs.

My fave team Vancouver Canucks, I was born and raised in Vancouver BC Canada. I think this team is amazing by looking how we all come together even though we have not yet won a Stanley Cup. It's really tough if you understand the feeling when others just throws the "how many Stanley Cups does your team have" @chu.
Fave All-time player: Markus Naslund
- He's a amazing hockey player, great leadership on and off the ice.

The simple reason why I love the Canadiens would be because I live in Montreal and grew up watching them with my dad who has been a fan for more than 20 years now. What I enjoy about the team is their prestige and history, what they really mean to people who live here, they're related to a lively and multicultural city, reuniting fans who both speak english and/or french. The fans are kinda nuts sometimes but they love their team and they're proud of their sport. I feel there is a complicity with other fans, they share the same passion obviously and I feel they know what they're talking about when discussing with them. It's actually incomparable to be a fan of a team that is involved in rivalries with so many teams. Funny how some crazy fans get offended when people insult their team, yeah so people get to that level. But personally, I'm okay with that, you can't please everyone I guess.
BQ: I like Patrick Roy because even if he looked cocky and arrogant, he had personality. He brought an attitude which seemed to make his teammates respect them. He was a great goalie of course and one of the ones to revolutionize the butterfly style. He was very superstitious, so am I.
Ron Hextall is also my idol. He was an entertaining goalie to watch, a good fighter and he never let anyone take advantage of him. He didn't hesitate to get physical if someone was bothering him around the crease and that's what I like about him.

My favorite team is the Detroit Red Wings.
Just growing up in Detroit, I guess, gives me a love for the Wings.
BQ1 Favorite Player? Chris Chelios, he was on the Wings a while. Or maybe Brett Hull, just because he was awesome.
BQ2 God, I can't stand Crosby, what a whiner

I love the Red Wings because they are the team I grew up knowing about. I'm not as close distance wise as you (80 miles away) but I consider them my hometown team. I like what they stand for and I love what they do (and have done) for the city of Detroit. The Illitch's are sports Gods!
BQ!* Steve Yzerman is a class act. He always has been and he always will be.
BQ2* This question is SO easy. Chris Osgood. Because I KNOW what he has done for the Red Wings even if it doesn't always show on paper.
I thought you meant a player on my team for BQ2*. I'll stick with the answer, though.

The first NHL game I saw was a Capitals home game in 1976.
They were the worst team in the league, so expectations were low.
Over the years they improved, adding better players such as Mike Gartner.
Mike was my favorite, because he was the fastest skater in the game.
David Poile became GM and traded with Montreal to bring in
Rod Langway, Doug Jarvis, Craig Laughlin, and Brian Engblom.
The Caps became respectable playoff contenders. There have
been many ups and downs, but I still support them.
BQ1* Gartner
BQ2* Ovechkin, who else?

The Oilers. Yeah, I guess I've got some explaining to do :). My dad is from Alberta and he grew up during the 80's when they won all their cups, so they're his favourite team. I just grew up cheering for them.
BQ1, Wayne Gretzky. My favourite player who is still playing is either Taylor Hall or Chris Pronger (yeah, now everyone hates me.)
BQ2, I hardly ever argue about hockey because I live in a boring part of the country where nobody follows it but me. But my cousin and I argue about the Flames and the Oilers when I visit Alberta in the summers. That's always fun. :P

I like the flames because I have lived in calgary all my life and been to many flames games, so it makes the most sense to cheer for them.
BQ: For me, all-time isn't really that long cuz I've only been watching hockey since around 2003. But it is our goalie Kiprusoff because he is the only guy who keeps the flames from getting blown out on a lot of nights. And I just like goalies in general so naturally he would be my favorite. I also like Iginla, because not only is he a star player, but one of the classiest players in the NHL. Oh, and hes not afraid to drop the mitts once in a while.
BQ2: Often find myself arguing with nucks fans about Luongo. They seem to think he is some god in net but then every year he chokes for them in the playoffs...
