What is the difference between a tragic hero and an antihero?

I have to write a report based on whether or not I believe Perry Smith from Truman Capote's book, In Cold Blood, is an antihero or a tragic hero and I just wanted to know what you thought the difference was.

Oh, and when I mention the book (it's a novel, basically) in the text, do I use quotations, italicization, or underlining? Thanks.

Dunno the book, but a tragic hero is a hero who struggles for what's right but often meets challenges he can not overcome or dies; he comes into tragedy...an antihero is a protagonist that doesn't necessarily do what is perceived as morally right, or otherwise contrary to the archetypal hero.Think Dirty Harry or V.

And the text to use when citing the book depends on what standards you're using; in MLA form it's italicized.

I think a tragic hero is someone who is trying to do the right thing but gets scr**ed either by circumstances or his wrong way of going about things like King Lear. I think of an anti-hero as someone who is a d bag, but he pulls some good stuff out of his a** every once in a while like those guys in Diehard, Lethal Weapon, or Batman.

An anti-hero is someone who commits malicious actions in order to achieve heroic goals.
