Should Groundhog's Day be changed to "Hound-Dog's Day"?

After this year's prediction I'm ready to put a contract out on Punxatawney Phil- It's April 1 and still only 45F in the daytime and 20's at night in NJ- Early Spring my sainted A ss!

So is it time to acknowledge that spring really comes when your dog blows her coat all over the house? Mine budded up and bloomed yesterday- she's a Brittany/Lab mix, and I have the most adorable and beautiful little "Muttflowers" all over the house.

General gripe about the lousy weather- legit Q:

Which vacuum should I buy to deal with the pet hair from this Brit Beast and the 4 cats that share her house? I have my eye on a Bissell Pet Pro but am still in the market.

Please tell me which vacs have helped you with Spring Blowout and general cleaning, and include their prices.

Thanks in advance!

I think we should dig Phil outta his hole and toss him in the cold. It is cold and wet here and I'm sick of it.

We have a second hand Electrolux and it works fairly well. I think we paid $50 for it.

We would be more than happy to dispatch those dang varmits :) Especially, since they promised and early spring and it doesn't seem to be happening. We're supposed to have snow tomorrow..bleh!

I need a new vacuum also, but an upright is to big. I currently have an old Eurkea Mighty Might, which doesn't work very well. What's everyone else using?

I don't get tumbleweeks. I have wirecoated dogs so, they get stripped to maintain the coat. Once it gets nice, I'll be able do that outside instead of in the house.

I have heard many raves over the Dyson vacuum cleaner.

Clever idea about Groundhog Day - considering that we have a major New England snowstorm predicted for April 1, Phil should decide he "wants to spend more time with his family."

Its supposed to be 80 here tomorrow, so maybe Phil was thinking about us. :o)

My dogs started shedding a month ago.

My last Oreck lasted me 15 years (until I lent it out to someone else), and did a terrific job all that time. I couldnt afford to replace it with a new one, so I got a rebuilt one, and it seems to be working just fine. They have a special right now on the website for the basic model (new)- $199.

Come to Texas and deal with 80 degree weather in the Spring! My dog doesn't really shed. He is a Zuchon and they are very low to non-shedding dogs.
