Blinds that have stuck on residue?
We are renting a house, and the metal blinds in the kitchen are greasy, and look like they haven't been cleaned in years. I tried spray vinegar and supporting the blind with my hand and scrubbing. Didn't work. I am tempted to take them down and use our pressure washer on it. Does anyone have a different suggestion or a reason I shouldn't do this? This is a short term rental while we find a house to buy, so I don't want to spend much even while I want a clean home. Appreciate any input.

A pressure washer would most certainly rip the blinds to shreds.. I would take them down and give em a soak in a bit of soapy water w/ a touch of bleach added.. Too much bleach & well it will eat away the cords.. Hang them outside if you can to dry and then hang em' back up.. While the blinds are done give the windows a quick once over.. Two jobs done at once! Good Luck

Soak them in a tub of hot soapy bleach water. Stubborn areas can be scrubbed with a brush, hand outside to dry. Or you can take them out in the driveway hose them off , spray with a cleaner like 409 scrub with a broom or brush, rinse, then hang to dry.

Take them down and wash them with TSP. I would not use a power washer, it's just too aggressive. TSP will cut the grease. I usually take them outside and use the hose. Some people think the bath tub works best.

Hi, I SWEAR by Clorox Clean-up, available anywhere pretty much. It is in a green and white bottle, it melts grease! Spray them in a tub though as it has bleach in it! Then rinse and dry.
