With VLC installed it will play anything (not copy protected) on Mac's, Windows or Linux.

QuickTime (comes with all Mac's) natively supports the following video formats:

"natively" meaning all Mac users (without installing anything else)

    QuickTime Movie (.mov)

    MPEG-4 (.mp4, .m4v)

    MPEG-1

    3GPP

    3GPP2

    AVI

    DV

Quicktime with the free Perian installed plays many more

Apple has very overestimated hardware, there are greater low-cost abode windows computers with greater advantageous factors that are purely as transportable as a mac mini, apple computers have super good factors and a few marvelous developer concepts yet once you have already got been given the pro there is not any want for the MacBook mini, any element you mandatory that's listed is often offered on abode windows.

who told you mac computer doesn't supports those formats?

if not supported, that is because of your player installed on your Mac, not your Mac system.

as for video formats converting, you can use the Aiseesoft Video Converter for Mac, which can convert between all popular video and audio formats with super fast conversion speed and high output quality on your Mac.

i have used it and the effect is not bad, you can have a try first:
