Why does Jesus call Himself "Son of God" and "Son of Man"?

Jesus came from His place in Heaven to die for us. God was up there and couldn't be in the presence of sin.... and we were down here, full of sin. Jesus, who is God Himself, became both. Son of God and Son of Man to reconcile us. He died for our sin and was risen. He allowed us to be joined together with God.

What do you believe?

Update:

True, Jesus would have no problem being called Son of Woman. No problem with that at all.

Update 2:

Actually, the Bible tells us that He became the Son of God, the first of many. Son of God became a new "position" and that was done for us. Jesus has always been God.

He has forever been the Son of God but He became the Son of Man when He came to earth and took on the sins of all humanity by dying for us.

Jesus was fully God; the only begotton Son Of God but yet he humbled himself to be a man; Son Of Man.

One thing that relates to this is that in the time before Jesus walked the earth, the people were looking for a Messiah to come and restore Israel from out of the Roman rule. But Jesus, being in the same nature as God The Father and The Holy Spirit gave people their free will. That's how it is with most any Father or Mother; to want their children to love them because they want to. That's the soft hand; there is also the hard... just like the staff is the gentle guiding, there is also the rod of discipline... consequences for rebelliousness.

Today is much the same way; people ask, where is God; what is the proof; why does He allow sickness and poverty, or why doesn't He establish rule and justice... same as then; it takes seeking to know God.

Jesus called John and James "Sons of thunder". (Mark 3:14-19) Back in that day "son of...." meant that you had the "nature of..". Calling James and John Sons of thunder was saying that they were like thunder. Possibly inferring that they were loud or brash.

So when Jesus called Himself the son of man He was saying that He has the nature or qualities of a man. When He said I am the Son of God, He was saying that He had the nature or qualities of God.

He is both! He came to live with us and amongst us, to not only die for our sins but to show us how by example how to live. He wanted to show us who God the Father is really like! Satan had spread so many lies about God the Father. It was an act of love.

Yeah! he should call himself "Son of Woman" since he was born to a woman.

Because both were created in the minds of humans.

Because he wanted to be like Satan, and all the other "sons of gods" in Genesis 6--so he lied.
