It all depends on a large part of where you live. Here the Grandparents and close relatives are looked at first---and a HUGE number of children are in their Grandparents care. Please contact AARP they have a spokesman who is there for you and have many chapters throughout the state working on your behalf.

Have they already picked out a family? Some agencies have potential adoptive parents who are open to an open grandparent arrangement. In other words, not only do the birth parents get letters and pictures of the child, the grandparents will too. Sit down with the adoption agency they are going through and ask them.

Here is an example of a family who is open to an open grandparent arrangement:

Without a lawyer - you're out of luck.

Grandparents are getting more and more rights to their grand kids - but you need a lawyer to push it through the courts.

You have to move fast. If you've been side lined, and social services are pushing to take the child, time is ticking away. The kid will disappear into the system and you'll be on the wrong side of privacy laws that protect minors.

Wow you're a great mom anyway try to ask the girl if you can adopt and try not to mention the under age aspect at anytime during the adoption if she does let you adopt.

  • Contact the State Departments in which you live. There are free lawyers that help individuals with low incomes in every state. There is help for you. Children Welfare Service would be able to direct you.

    Good job mom.

    Don't bother with your grandbaby.
