The thing to remember with 'park' is there's a physical transmission lock which prevents the wheels from turning.

That's why you must never select 'park' while the car's moving.

    Never ever.

Neutral is just that, there's no mechanical conection between the engine and gear box,or the road wheels.

Park is different there's a piece of metal actually inserted into a gear in the gearbox preventing the drive shaft/s from rotating,so no wheel rotation,

P stands for "Park". In this position the car's transmission is locked and the car will not move. N stands for "Neutral" and the car could coast on an incline.

P = Park. With this selected the transmission's output shaft is locked in place so that the car remains "parked."

N = Neutral. With this selection the transmission's output shaft is not locked in place and so the car can move as gravity or outside forces demand.

P = Park... no, they are not both neutral. If you have a running car, in neutral, you can push it either forwards or backwards. If you have a running car in park, you cannot push it any where.

While on a slope with N, your car will roll downhill but not with P.

    P is to park.

    N is neutral.

    P is park.

The car can move while in neutral, but can't in park...

these guys have it all wrong, when you put your car into "P" it launches Proton torpedoes while being parked and unmovable
