WORLD WAR II - What was the term used for stolen or acquired items that were shipped back by US troops?

For instance if a guy killed a Nazi and he wanted his luger or whatever. So he would ship it back home for free

Yea spoils of war or war trophys. If someone acquired a war trophy depending on what it was and how big it was dictated how you got it home. Medals and small items could go in your foot lock or duffel bag. Guns normally had a letter from the unit commander authorizing them to take it home with them. It was common to do but was not legal as per the gun laws. There was supposed to be a bill that allowed soldiers and their relatives to be authorized to keep them. Not sure what happened to the bill.; Hope this helps.

War Trophies. It wasn't necessarily free to ship home. But it wasn't specifically illegal to loot the dead either. Today they are banned.

    Spoils of War

The Nazi didn't even have to be dead. He just had to be really really really wounded.
