Can police use radar guns while driving to clock how fast you're going?
My friend and I were driving down the road while a pa state trooper was in the oncoming lane. I checked how fast we were going and we were in the low 50's. The cop turned around and pulled us over and gave my friend a ticket for going over 60. Is this legal?

Is this (using a radar while patrol car is moving) legal? Yes, of course this is the most common ways that radar is used to catch speeders.
Unfortunately for you the radar caught you long before you saw the patrol car and looked down at the speedometer.
see this link about one popular brand or radar gun.

We can easily clock your speed with raday while in movement. The radar units are equipped with 2 windows. one window reflects target speed (yours) and one shows our speed. Radar displays are usually placed on dash board so it only takes a brief moment to see your speed, but also hear the speed. The faster you go the higher the pitch on the radar. With a remote in hand easily clock you.

no, they can't. they can estimate your speed, based on their cop instincts, but they can't radar / laser you. that's why they stop by the side of the street to do that, or they'd always be driving.
fight it. probably the cop won't even show up, and you still have a decent chance of winning if you're good at being in court.

If you wanted to actually pay for a lawyer, you could challenge the findings of his radar gun. This has been done successfully. Chances are though you'll end up paying way more to fight it than to just suck it up and pay the ticket.
