A question for Black Butler/Kuroshitsuji fans!?

I was just wondering, is Black Butler- (thats what im calling it cuz i started w/ the dub)- an anime thats considered more for boys or girls? Ex.- One Piece is more oriented for boys while The Melancholy or Haruhi Suzumiya is more girl oriented.

Kuroshitsuji runs in a shounen magazine. The main protagonist is a boy. It's technically shounen, but because of all the bishounen and shounen-ai undertones, it has a larger female fanbase. Also, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is actually aimed towards guys.

Source(s): shounen - literally means "boy" in Japanese bishounen - litereally means "beautiful boy" in Japanese shounen- ai - means "boy love" in Japanese

That's a good question. It was originally published in a shounen (targeted to boys) magazine, but it fits better in the seinen (also targeted towards boys) genre. The issue is that they were trying to get it to appeal to the shoujo (girls) demographic too, but with Yana Toboso being a huge BL fan, it went too far and now pretty much the entire fanbase is female.

So yes, mostly girls watch/read it, but it isn't really a shoujo anime in any other aspect (unless the yaoi fanservice counts).

I'd say more for guys, but girls like it too. One of my bffs (a girl) LOVES it. Kuroshitsuji is amazing for both genders.

And, FYI, guys can like The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya too!

    Well. XD

Black Butler was originally intended to be a shounen-ai manga... which would have made it more for girls. And Sebastian does have his fair share of fangirls...

But since the shounen-ai aspect of it was discarded, I guess that does make it more of an action manga.

I think it's intended for both genders, but I'm pretty sure the boy/girl fan-ratio is around 1:3.

Well....I believe it's suppose to be more for boys because it has some scenes with blood in it but I'm a girl and i love Black Butler(mainly because of Sebastian Michaelis).

That's really tricky. I'd say more for boys though. But I know more girls who like the series than boys.
