If you bought a house and then found a large diamond a few months into would you contact the previous owner?

is there a moral obligation too?

Technically when you bought the house it was "AS IS" meaning bad pipes or large diamond right?

Just wondering I have no intention of keeping it.

I would. But that's my morals.

I believe the law is that the diamond would belong to the new homeowner.

    All the best.

Keep it! Your as is clause pushed the grievime over the top; you would have been responsible for all the negatives, why can't you reap the few rare benefits. If they haven't asked, you haven't lied.

On the other hand, some people belief in sentimental value. You don't seem like the person to hurt that...

I might be! Ha, they could already be through grieving process.

I said a whole lot of nothing. Ha, hope this helped!

You really don't have any obligation to give it back. Morally, yes. Legally, nah. Whatever they left in that house, is yours pretty much. I would call and tell them you found it. I'd be mad...because i'd freaking want to sell it and roll in the cash, but i'd feel horrible and with my luck they'd call me a few months later wondering if we had seen it laying around somewhere.

    I would, lol

I had an Impala (the car) a few years ago and totaled it. Someone then bought it from an auction and went to repair it. They took off the bumper and a wedding ring fell out. They called me to ask if it was mine (they got my name from the insurance company). It wasn't, must have been someone who worked on it in the factory (b/c it was brand new)

You found a diamond? Send it to me!

But seriously. No, I wouldn't keep it. I'd feel too bad.

I would sure be gritting my teeth as I contacted the previous owner. I hope I'd turn it in. I think I would. Yes, I would...but, I'd be gritting my teeth.

Yes I would, and later stick a glowsign as Jackass on my butt for others to call me with.
