PUPPY SWALLOWED LATEX BALLOON!?

I have a Shihtzu puppy about 5 months old. She just swallowed a small (think infant's head) balloon, no helium. I've called the vet and she said to wait a while and watch for signs of lethargy and lack of appetite. Is there anything I can do, maybe some safe home remedies or additional signs of danger? Or do these sort of things usually just pass through the system?

Your vet is right. I have a cat that should have been a goat and eats anything and everything, litterally. He ate blue tape, but that he threw that up. I find things in his litter box a lot. I have to keep doors shut and everything possible out of the way. He eats my curtains, the fibers out of the carpet, tried to chew on the fridge, destroyed a cardboard box, shredded tissues, toilet paper, newpapers, etc.

Just watch your dog. I will pray he is fine.

If you want to do something, you can induce vomiting. Position the puppy between your legs and grip her with your knees. Tilt her head back and pour 1 tablespoon of regular salt down her throat. In a minute or two she will barf like crazy - no ill effects.
