I love my friends child's name, is it wrong to name my child the same?
I absolutely love their little girlsname, Jaslyn (jaz - lin).
Her nick name is Jazzy or Jaz.
Would it be wrong or weird to copy?

It would be alright to name your child Jaslyn if you ask your friend if it
is okay by them if you name your daughter in honour of their little girl.
If you using the name upsets your friend or his wife they then have the
opportunity to say so. Ask in such a way that they CAN give an honest
answer. Give them time to consider/discuss it together and be genuinely
prepared for any answer.
It could be cute as gatherings to have Jazzy and Little Jazzy.
Big Jazzy could like that.
Other Jazzy nick names are associated with:
Jasmine
Jazmin
Jasmina
Unless your friend's daughter is a few years older than your daughter I
would prefer to choose a different name.
Maybe Jazmina, Jezabel or Zipporah - Zippy.

It really depends on how close your kids are. If you're not really that close and your kids arent likely to ever hang out, I dont think it would be a problem. If you are close (or close enough that your kids would be likely to hang out), it would be a problem.
First, I would talk to your friend about it. See what her opinion on the subject is. Second, consider using it as a middle name. You could still call her Jazzy or Jaz at home, but she could go by her first name elsewhere. Finally, maybe you should consider a name similar to Jaslyn like Jasmine, that way she'd have a different nickname to use when she's around your friend's daughter (she could go by Mina or Minnie).

Yes.
It's not necessary "wrong" just inappropriate. It would be difficult to distinguish which child you were talking to when all together and would become frustrating. And though they may not express it, it will probably annoy or bother your friend that you've decided on the same name.
You could make a similar name that isn't the same as Jaslyn. Perhaps, Jayla? Or Jaylin? Or Jasmine? Even changing a few letters and the sound of the name. Like Jaclyn, Karlyn, Jocelyn, Kaylin, Jacquelyn, Joellyn, etc.
My best suggestion is to go onto Google and type in "Names similar to Jaslyn". I guaranteee that somewhere, you'll find a similar name you like even better!

honestly, if i took the time to find/ makeup a name that i loved and that wasnt commen i would be so pissed if my friend copied me a few weeks/months/whatever later. If she was already thinking of it, then thats one thing, but to just steal it is another
besides, its an awful name anyways

I would just ask them if it would make them uncomfortable. If they say it would you could try to reach a compromise, like settling on a different spelling or using it as a middle name instead. They might even be flattered that you like the name as much as they did.
Good luck. :) On a personal note: I love that name.

If you found your perfect prom dress, then you told your friend & she went and bought it how would you feel??
Don't name your child that....... Come on now there are millions of names out there & jaslyn is so lame & common anyways.

Yeah, it is sort of rude to, but if you really really like it then use it. You should think about what you like about the name and maybe think of names that are similar to use instead. Like Jocelyn or something. Then you can call her Josie or Jozzy, which is similar but much cuter and not as creepy. :)

I would talk to your friend about it. If she is okay with you using the name, I would spell it differently.
Honestly I don't care for the name, I like Jasmine, Jacqueline and Jocelyn better.

Yes i would be pissed if my friend took my kids name its just not right. There are many beautiful names out there try to find something unique for her. I know it sucks she beat you to it but maybe you will find something even nicer.

It depends, how close are you and your friend? My mom named me (Kylie) after her friend's kids, but they weren't that close and lived a little far apart, so it was fine. But, defiantly talk to your friend first.
