Should conservatives lay off the birther argument?

Obama has shown a valid Certification of Live Birth according to the state of Hawaii. Therefore, it is no longer his burden to show the public his birth certificate, but rather birthers’ burden to prove the document is a fraud. Until that happens, this conversation is meaningless and debilitating to conservative principles. Am I wrong?

Update:

@ Sock Monkey – One of mine? Are you insinuating I’m a liberal? That would have to be the worst insult imaginable.

Update 2:

@ err – So the document that Obama has presented is a forgery, but there is no doubt in your mind that the Kenyan birth certificate you claim to have is a forgery?

Yeah, but polls show that 47% of republicans think it's likely that Obama was born in Kenya. It would be pretty tough in the primary if they ignore nearly half of the party's base.

This is wrong. He has admitted to having the "real" birth certificate, so he should just show it and not point to an announcement in a newspaper as further "proof."

They also tell you to "just" believe the state of Hawaii just "because" they say it is legitimate. And they say to believe factcheck.org that we all know Obama has had ties to.

It doesn't matter. I will not vote for someone based on their belief or non-belief that Obama was born in the US. It is all just to distract the masses.

Trump is quite the liberal who' has supported the Democrats for years, and he's the loudest birther of them all right now. So I guess it is not only conservatives (though I will agree most are conservative) who are birthers.

President Obama is the one keeping alive the Great American Smokescreen, as I've personally named this birther bullshit, because it's providing a healthy distraction from the REAL damage he's doing.

We all have to either get off this crap and soon, or we're going to take ourselves down the tubes.

I'm no conservative, but I respect you for being one that appears to have concrete disagreements with the Obama Administration, and not just petty ones on his birthplace, or 'whether he's a Muslim'.

No. They should continue to use straw candidates to keep up the pressure on President Obama until a real GOP candidate emerges.

i never put a lot of stock in this issue any more than i did our govt. carried out the 9/11 attack. what is strange to me is this is an easy thing to resolve, produce the birth certificate. argument over, game, set, match.

This is why America is in the shape that it's in because people distract themselves from what is important. The issue is done, what do they want to accomplish?
