Why is it that smokers often want to smoke a cigarette after eating a meal?
Why do smokers always want to smoke a cigarette after finishing a meal? It use to be that smokers lit up while at the table, but now with strict rules from health departments, you see smokers reaching for their cigarette pack as soon as they leave a restaurant. I've never figured out why there is a need to smoke immediately after eating. Have there been any studies on this behavior? What satisfaction does this give the smoker?

I think because they've just eaten & there's an increased blood flow to aid in digestion, they are low on nicotine -- since they're addicted to that, they feel the need to smoke after they've eaten. As for why they used to smoked while eating, I think it's a social thing & they feel the need to be smoking while socializing.

If you planning to make her continue smoking then don't forget to always carry around a matches (light the cigarette for her), take her to public place that separate the smoker and the nonsmoker (of course you choose the smoker) in place that mixed around people may ask her to stop smoking and that could hurt her feeling, tell her she looks cool when she's smoking, etc. But remember, smoke's bad for her health (and yours..and your offspring later), keep candies (preferably mint) around to distract her from smoking (doing many exercises together could help too).

Smoking decreases your appetite. If someone is still hungry they can get their "fix" by smoking and not eating more.
