They are mentally ill.
They are brainwashed.
It's not justified. Not by normal people - only extremists think like that, and thankfully they are rare, but unfortunately not rare enough. Not by far.

Mentally Ill people do CRAZY FU*KING THINGS...
Unfortunately, that is the start and end of it.
Theism is a from of mental illness and extreme theism is a very damaging, dangerous form of mental illness... People that suffer from such horrible mental illness need to be put down for the good of the species before they go out and do such horrible acts as the London Bombing, 9/11, Etc.
The worst part? While the rest of the world has continued to evolve, the Islamic Theocracies haven't... It is still legally and morally acceptable for men to keep boys as sex toys and for husbands to beat and rape their women... Rape victims being put in prison or even murdered for violating "Virtue Laws" which allowed them to be raped in the first place... Male on Male rape...
These are laws on the books in multiple Islamic Theocracies... 30% of women in Egypt admit to being raped by their spouse and their holy leaders claim that Muslim Wives CAN'T be raped, they just like to complain and have a "Pushy Husband".

► Predisposition for Religion Can Spread Quickly
http://www.livescience.com/culture/religion-and-fe...
Religiously observant people have more children than other people do, according to demographic studies. Assuming there's a genetic predisposition for religion, this means the religion gene could spread relatively quickly throughout a population. Research using new mathematical models demonstrates just how quickly this could happen. A religious group that makes up only 0.5 percent of a population could make up 50 percent within 10 generations, according to one of the models.
► Scientists See God on the Brain
http://www.livescience.com/culture/090309-brain-re...
Brain scans showed that participants fell back on higher thought patterns when reacting to religious statements, whether trying to figure out God's thoughts and emotions or thinking about metaphorical meaning behind religious teachings. "That suggests that religion is not a special case of a belief system, but evolved along with other belief and social cognitive abilities," said Jordan Grafman, a cognitive neuroscientist at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke in Bethesda, Maryland.
