General perception of Versus coverage?
Over the years a lot of people have hated Versus hockey coverage, but I think theyve made some big strides over the last couple years. I acutally like watching games on this network now. I absolutely love the fact the brought JR in for the intermission reports, I love hearing what that guy has to say. How about the rest of you? Do you think theyve improved a lot?

It's not great but unless you have the NHL Package or live in Buffalo or Detroit where you can get some Canadian stations, you won't find any better alternatives for natinal broadcasts.

From what I've read it's vastly improved (I live in Canada so I'm watching TSN or CBC) but don't see much of their work. Double-headers every night where possible, improved market penetration, etc.
Complaining about announcing is pretty common; plenty of folks get worked up over Jim Hughson doing Canucks games (he used to do their games for Rogers Sportsnet), or Bob Cole being a bit long in the tooth, or Pierre McGuire being himself, or complain about Gord Miller or Chris Cuthbert. Or the CBC and TSN intermission teams.

I agree with you its gotten a lot better and it seems like they are showing many more games this year. This seems to be the first year the NHL is modifying playoff start times so that versus can air as many games as possible which I have been enjoying. Im not a big fan of JR though. I think its a good move for versus to focus on the nhl and move away from bull riding.

They are horrible, horrible commentators. Especially with the lightning. Every call there was, they had it going against the lightning and then when it wasn't they complained or made a stupid comment. Oh and Roloson knows he is 41 years old. Every time they would say his name it was always "41 year old Roloson," or "the 41 year old goalie." Hopefully with the sweep they will be a little bit more hopeful with the team now.

Well besides JR taking one too many hits to the head and saying some of the stupidest things ever to come out of a human beings mouth, and the fact that Keith Jones is a tool...The games look great in HD...I'm happy with it.

Versus has improved but still isn't very good.
Liam McCue blows, he just does.
They need to stop cutting to commercial during fights and replays.
And they need to make sure whoever is doing the announcing/commentating actually KNOWS hockey. Its god awful listening to some baseball announcer who can barely tell the teams apart babble on and on.

we like VS and i hate to sound like everyone picks on the wings but those announcers tonight were stroking the sharks all night. IMO the sharks are lucky in this series the games have all been close. they didn't look "pretty" they aren't playing amazing hockey and the wings didn't really turn it on till the end that hit on Clowe began the change in momentum it rocked :) Abdelkader penalty might not have been called if he was on some other team i seen so much worse

It's better than it was last year, I think. And I love me some Roenick, especially yesterday, when he called Patrick Marleau "gutless."

They've gotten much better, but I'd rather watch the Wings on Fox Sports Detroit.
