Broken front wheel bearing, can't figure out how to get out.?

Hey,

I'm helping someone with their 1992 Nissan Maxima, their front wheel drive bearings need replacing. We got the right wheel disassembled but couldn't get the wheel bearing hub out so we got a hub puller and finally got it off. The bearing inside is snapped clean in half, one half came out with the hub and the other half is stuck in the knuckle. We also were given a bearing puller and we've tried using that many times but we can't get the bearing from the knuckle. The bearing puller has two arms that screw out and grab the center bearing ring, but we use the awesome hammer thing that came with the pullers and we can only pull twice before the arms snap out.

Does anyone have any idea how to get the bearing ring out?

One thing we think may help is to get the axle spindle out of the way (the thing in the middle of the knuckle that turns with the bearings). But we have no idea how to force the axle spindle out, it only pushes back about 2 inches.

Any help is much appreciated oh gods of auto!

Update:

Note: Local auto stores only sell the bearings, don't sell complete hub, we tried. If I didn't make it clear, half the bearing came out and is stuck on the hub, the other half is stuck in the knuckle still.

We're not worried about getting the bearings back in, we're worried about getting the broken one out.

    I used to have a Cadillac that matched Pancake's description, and taking them out is a simple unbolting operation. Some front wheel drive steering knuckles have the bearing pressed in while the Knuckle is heated to around 600 degF. Heat the knuckle around the bearing, and attempt to drift it out from the back side. (drift in mechanics means to hit the bearing or stuck part to slowly drive it out from where it is. this is usually done with a big punch and a hammer)

    Um, front wheel drive? The bearing is a sealed unit, sold as a hub. There are 3 or 4 large bolts that hold the hub to the spindle bracket.

    to save yourself all that extra hassle instead of buying the bearings, for a few bucks more buy the whole new hub and bearing assembly for both sides. That way u dont have to press and pull no bearings. Just simply replace the hubs with bearings assembled already. Good luck.

    you like Copper Cat-6 type B Wires. could be located at residing Depot. The wires are available 4 colours, black, blue, purple, orange. You splice those wires into the numerous head distributor to allocate the amperage needed.
