ak47/74: build or buy?

Question

is it worth the effort to build an ak or should i just buy a yugo or something? i am currently looking at a Bulgarian ak74 parts kit. i would need a receiver but nodak has one for 83 dollars. i dont really have a preference between the two rifles. i just want some sort of ak platform. 

also how do you deal with headspace when using a new U.S. barrel?

Unless you have all the special tools you'll need to make it right, it's not worth it to build just one.

Buy = get everything ready to go out of the box, with somebody else's choice of parts.
Build = have to put some work into it, but you get exactly what you want.

Personally, I'd build it. Its what I've done with my AR's and I couldn't be happier. Also, I'd go with a 74 over a 47... 5.45 com-block surplus is almost as cheap as 7.62x39 and it has better ballistics (flatter trajectory, higher accuracy).

honestly, you should just buy one.  sure, it'll ruin the fun of building it, but you won't have to worry about it not being made right.  

get a ROMANIAN AK47.  yugo guns are poorly made.  you can swap out the front grip for a rail system and you can replace the stock and stuff like that.  i don't know anything about the bulgarian guns

if I had to tools- a 30 ton press & receiver form, riveter thingy
I wouldn't hesitate to try and build my own!. its cheaper and I could make one above the quality of the pre-manufactured ones.
