NY State School Budget...if budget fails who gets the money first? Teachers or Students?
I will be voting on our NY school budget tomorrow. Being this is my first time I wanted to make sure of a few things.
1) Are (or can there be) separate parts to vote on?
2) If it fails, what part gets paid first? The teachers or school supplies and things of that nature?
My personal standing is kids first but, I have to take exception with the pay since our district the average household income is 50,000 and 81% of the teachers make more than this, up to 102,000? I want new books and supplies. In this economy right now when alot of people are unemployed (most for over a year) people should be grateful they are working and buck up and except raises may not happen. Yes, teachers should be paid well and here they are.

It was in our local paper. I have no way to "prove it to you" If you AREN'T going to bother to answer why bother?
Our average household income means total family household income (so 2 incomes, not just one) so that is DOUBLE our income
It also doesn't matter what NY average teacher wage is only for my county. We are a small community and most teachers are here for their entire career, hence the up to 102,000.
I am NOT in Tioga Center School District, you pompous a**. Tioga County has many school districts. And FYI you have not answered my question. I actually already got my answer from someone else but, thanks for wasting my time.

What district are you in? I want proof that "81% of the teachers make more than this, up to 102,000"

Starting Salary: $37,321
Average Salary: $57,354
Salary Raise Last Year: 2.1%
Salary Raise Last 10 Years: 19.2%
The average teacher salary is $57,354, just slightly above what you claim is the 'average salary' in your district.
In other words, even though EACH teacher holds a MINIMUM of a Bachelor Degree, and I would assume a good percent have Master degrees as well, they STILL make just slightly above the average salary.
In other words, they are just your average next-door neighbor.
Even though teachers are among the most educated citizens in your county, they are just average-paid citizens in your county.
You want to know "what part gets paid first? The teachers or school supplies?"
I would say this.
If I had a choice between my child being in a room of school supplies without a teacher,
or a teacher but no supplies, I would select the teacher every time.

Why would you not go to the source I posted for you? Why are you so averse to facts or research, even when the book is opened, the sentence underlined, and handed to you?
