Why would you even want to know? If you take the kittens away from the mother in the first few weeks she will be very distressed and Post natal depression may set in. Cats brains are very similar to humans in their make up, apparently more so than dogs or even apes! They suffer the same effects. Right now the kittens should be aware of your friends presence and she may gently stroke them, but not really good to pick them up til they are at least a week old and even then for only a minute or so. Your friend will probably have noticed the mummy cat is with them constantly at the moment. Kittens that young feed about once an hour and spend the rest of the time curled up with mummy. It is all part of the bonding and nurturing process. I have had 3 litters of kittens from birth, if you remove the kittens they will die and your cat will become depressed. My friend had a cat whose milk dried up, she just couldn't produce enough. She got very depressed and her behaviour drastically changed, she didn't bond with the kittens, she still cared for them but it wasn't the same. Eventually she moved herself in with the people across the road. In my experience kittens that are with their mothers for the first 12 weeks are the most loving and best behaved. From about 4 weeks the mother teaches them how to use a litter tray and how to eat soft food, she may still feed them until they r 12 weeks sometimes longer, longest I've had is 16 weeks, it became a comfort thing after eating his solids. From 6 weeks the mother starts to teach them social interaction, she will lovingly discipline them, and they like human children will test the boundaries. They need all this in order to become socialised and to have long happy lives with owners that won't get rid of them at first sign of trouble. Everyone thinks my boy cat is a gentleman. He us the cleanest most loving adorable cat in the world. Don't remove these babies, it's the same as taking a baby from it's mother. The first 12 weeks are the most important developmentally and forms a cats character. They should be with their mother til then. Any questions on kitten care email me at marieloughnane@yahoo. Co.uk. If your friend thinks she can't handle the responsibility I would take them in for the 12 weeks and care for them, all ud have to do is find them good homes and I could help you with that too. I live in England, where r u?

No she wouldn't die from her milk not being drunk. But she will not be happy if her babies are taken away, plus kittens need their mother for the first few months of their lives, as they depend on her. If taken away the kitten will then depend on human attention.

The kittens might die if you take them away from its mother after a few days, because they need their mum to survive.
the mother will be fine, though she will pine for her babies.
Her milk will just dry up.

no, like any animal or human mum her milk will simply dry up
Her milk is produced by stimulation of the sucking baby, so if there is no baby sucking, then no more milk will be produced
