i asked my friend if he was in a gang and he said he was afiliated and then he said that he is not in it but he is a crew member.

It was an evasive way to tell you, yes, he's a gang member. No one is "half-way" in a gang. You're either in or you're not. He's in. And that means certain death at a young age (whether on the street or in prison). Run away from this guy as fast as you can!

Gang members are pathetic individuals who can't deal with life in general. Most of those losers always feel threatened because of their poor lack of self-confidence plus they are too lazy to get a real job and contribute to society. They usually prefer being part of illegal jobs that exploit innocent people.
