What are the best sandals for walking?
I love walking. And, this may sound weird, but I hate putting on socks and shoes to walk when it's hot out in the summer. Are there any sandals that are pretty good for walking? I just want something that will stay on my feet and not hurt for a 30-minute or hour-long walk. Thanks in advance for your ideas.

You sound an awful lot like me, Miss Mistaken:)
I don't like to drive unless I really have to, and my boys and I walk just about everywhere whenever the weather is nice. Both my boys go completely barefoot no matter where we're going, but as much as they love going barefoot themselves, they'd be the first to tell you that going barefoot isn't something they'd ever want to see a girl doing. I wear real leather sandals myself, thin, flat, and barely even there at all. They're just enough to protect my soles so I can keep them soft and nice, and not have them turn tough and leathery like the walk-on-anything soles my boys are so proud of having, but apart from that they leave my feet as bare as can be. My sandals are all thong type so they can be easily off and in my purse as soon as we get inside anywhere, but it's very important to me that they're real leather. I'd never put my feet in cheap rubber flip flops, because those things hold bacteria like stinky old sponges, and make your soles dirtier than if you just went barefoot.
The other important thing about _any_ sandals, in _any_ style is that your feet have to get used to how they move with your soles, and even more to the particular way the straps go, which might be different with each pair. Don't be shy about taking a new pair of sandals off and walking barefoot sometimes while your feet are getting used to them, and they're forming to your feet. It really won't take long at all till you'll hardly know you have them on, and you'll be surprised how happily you can rely on them. We not only walk into town most days, but we also do a lot of hiking, and most of the time I don't need any more than my trusty sandals to keep up with the nimble bare feet my boys rely on. Avid hikers though we are, it might be only once or twice a year that we'll be on a mountain trail so difficult that I'll need to wear my oxfords instead, and I just won't do a trail like that on a hot day.
Once your feet have grown to love a pair of sandals, you should try to keep as close as you can to the same make and style when you need new ones.
Finally, Mis mistaken, don't ever make the mistake of trying to drive in sandals, however comfy they may be. It's much safer to take them off and drive in your bare feet. Don't just leave them by your feet either. Set them on the floor on the passenger side, or in the back where they can't get cought underfoot.

For walking, I'd wear Keen sandals.

Nike and Adias both make sandals and since they're "athletic brands" I'm sure their sandals would be good for walking. they have tons of different styles. check it out on their websites or at a retail store where you live. idk if you have a Shopko I know they have Nike and Adias sandals.
