Where do I get help if the humane society wont help me with this?
I live in a very small town. most of you will not believe me when I explain the following but yes this does happen, the humane society has been called but nothing gets done. Where do I go to get help if the following is happening? Is everything i'm about to explain illegal?
Their is an old man who has about 60 head of horses, most of the time they dont get fed, they range on about 150 acres, more if they manage to break through the fencing. ( one got tangled up last year and they had to put it down) They hardly get fed in the winter, they run with two studs and half the time mares are so mal nutritioned they dont take. If they are fed, it's corn or it's a bail of hay thrown out into the middle of the fenced area.
This guy also has pigs that have about 3 feet of poop to roam in a 40x40 pen, if they have piglets that die their left for the other pigs to eat. He also runs a puppy mill and when he loses puppies he throws them to the pigs. The dogs themselves live in old apple bins and have been chained up so long their are holes where they burrow and have their pups, if they get fed it's old meat they dont eat or left overs.
This is only a small detail of what I've seen and heard. My best friend used to be married to this mans son, until she couldn't handle this anymore. She has tried to call the humane society but every time they show up, everything is cleaned up or fixed to the point where they can't really do anything.
I live in the State of Washington and when I called I was told that so long as hay (feed) or water is present (within sight) it's not animal abuse. Here we can appearently beat the crap out of our animals and turn them into skin and bones but if their feed is within sight they can't do anything about it. I"m sick of my friends son telling us horror stories of what it's like at this man's house. What can I do to help my friend? Is their an organization I can talk to? is it legal to go on this guys property and document it and turn that in? And to who? I know this sounds outragous and I didn't believe it until I saw a little bit of the property and animals myself.
Please no rude answers, this is not my property I'm simply just trying to find help for these animals. I haven't been around this guy personally, just to help my friend move her things. I met this friend two years ago when she divorced him and left the property. ( this guy is a real control freak and threatens to take her son from her when she pitches a fit about this problem)

From my experience, you'd be better off contacting an equine charity. World Horse Welfare (formally the International League for the Protection of Horses) are UK based but are looking to prevent cruelty worldwide. We had a runaway pony on our yard once and contacted the RSPCA - they wouldn't send a vet out to the pony that needed stitches because it was Sunday. After 2 hours of arguing, the yard owner managed to get them to get the vet out.
Take some photos of the conditions and send them to any equine charities you can think of - it's likely they will team up to get these horses the care they need as space in some of their rehabilitation centres may be full and it would be more cost effective for them all to work together for these horses.
This is the WHW website - send them a message with what is going on. They should be able to give you some advice. http://www.worldhorsewelfare.org/

I agree with what Pickled Pigs Feet said. And try and get as many pictures as you can. Try and get the mans son to take pictures as well. And always keep a copy of the pictures. If nothing is done soon after you report it, then report it again. Get your friends to report it. The more they're bugged about it, the more likely it is they'll do something about it.

Call PETA they are a vegan charity that perminantly battle animal abuse throughout the world. Ask for help nd they will tell you who to call in your area and when to do. They have done some amazing work, in opening the publics eyes to abuse and big branded companys that pay the animal testers! They really know how to stop animal abuse and neglect and get the responsible people banned

Get pictures and turn them over to local media. Nothing gives Animal Control a swift kick in the @$$ like some media attention. Send the pics into the Fugly Horse of the Day blog too. She loves running stories like this and her followers will hound your local AC to the pits of hell if they ignore it.

Call the police and report animal neglect. SPCA!! They deal with this stuff not the HS. They deal with rehoming and putting down mostly
Edit: get photographic evidence of the abuse!!! And turn them iin anonymously or you will get in trouble with this guy/ the police if you have to do questionable things to get it

i would report the SPCA as this is an illegal act of animal cruelty/neglect.they have a line where you can report this if you look on the site and they are more than likely to sort it out.

contact the police, the RSPCA(or SPCA if thats what it is in your area) or google and see if theirs a horse and animal rescue in your area, I hope that the animals get out of there soon!

The police and animal control handle neglect cases. You can also google 'horse rescue' and your county or city's name.

Get some friends together....set the animals free...
If you get caught, the potential to gain attention (from neighbors or media) outweighs the punishment the law gives you.
If you don't get caught...do it until you do!
