Deer hunting. How to get started?
I would like to get started hunting deer. I think I'm a little old to join a mentors program, but I really don't know anything about what to do after the deer is shot. None of my friends hunt. Are there clubs or organizations that I should be looking into?

I am happy to hear that you are looking into the sport! There are a lot of recourses out there that you can use. I would definitely look into a hunter’s safety course in your resident state BEFORE hunting. It is required by law in most states (depending on when you were born). As far as after the deer has been shot, you will need to tag and "field dress" the animal. There are hundreds of videos on YouTube that show you how.
Also, I advise that you learn about what it is to hunt and why you are doing it. People (like the other guy that answered you) seem to forget that there are so many reasons to hunt and increasing a predator population is often a TERRIBLE solution to over population of a species. Hunting provides you with one of the healthiest meat sources you will ever find. Deer meat is as lean as most poultry and is as "organic" as you can get.
That is why I hunt. I don't care for meat that is chemically treated. Did you know that a lot of beef it treated in ammonia? Anyhow, good for you. Don't be afraid to ask questions of us hunters out there. We welcome that chance to share what we know to anyone who will listen. Good luck!

don't start....if there's a deer overpopulation then work on increasing the area predator population. I don't want to sound like a no good hippie or anything. I just don't see a logic in shooting wild animal for the sake of adrenalin rush or fun... there's loads of way to experience both by not killing at random...
