Guy thrown out of the Impact taping for sending spoilers. Thoughts?

I cant believe that its hasn't been written about on this site already.. But on the 30/5 Impact taping a guy named John Benoit (not relative to Chris) was sending spoilers to PWInsider, and for that he got thrown out from the Impact Zone.

TNA officials has stated that they will comment on the situation at some point today

Good. It's about time that they do something and sending a message to those who text in spoilers.

I mean, I don't even try to read spoilers, but somehow I'm always running into them and I'm not even doing it purposely (I'm talking about some posts here and other posts elsewhere that don't even use "spoiler alert"). Spoilers ruin shows. Whether it's the fact that it already helps decides if you're going to watch it or not or just the fact that you know what's going to happen and judge it off that without even watching, it doesn't help the product and the company at all. Believe me, I don't like what's going on with Impact right now (I really don't like what it's become), but if they're taking steps to get rid of people sending in spoilers to "dirt sheet" sites, then I'm all for that. I want to just watch a show without knowing it and base my judgement off that rather than spoilers on the internet. I definitely wish the WWE could do the same for Superstars/SmackDown, but I guess it's hard to manage with the arenas (not a diss towards TNA, I'm just saying).

Hold the phones, why is people saying that it just shows how bad iMPACT! sucks? WWE shuts down their PPV events monthly just for streaming it live on web, and this is no different. Never can there be a normal iMPACT! question without blind WWE marks who don't keep an open mind.

Now, can we blame iMPACT!? Week in and week out, their spoilers is posted onto the web, and it just spoils the event. People just read the spoilers, and that means if they don't want to watch the show, they don't have to because they already know the outcome which loses viewers and ratings.

Marks, SmackDown! is also prerecorded, and guarantee WWE kicks out fans who spoil things but there are so many people in their arena, they cannot keep up with everyone. If you get a free ticket to the iMPACT! Zone, at least show some respect and not spoil the event for others.

It's been happening for years, and the only solution is to go live but iMPACT! cares for it's wrestlers, and makes sure that ALL of the wrestlers have lighter schedules it see their family. People need to show professional wrestling (as a whole) respect.

Hallelujah! Someone is finally doing something about those pests. People who posts spoilers are no different, and no better, than the jerks who leave a movie theater and tell those in line to see the next showing what the movie was all about. Those who go to TV tapings just to gather material TO post spoilers (like that guy you mention) are the equivalent of a supermarket tabloid hack. Bottom-feeding "reporters" with no real and actual writing skills.

They should not only get ejected from the tapings, but they should be banned from ever coming back. That goes for ALL wrestling TV tapings, including Smackdown. MOST wrestling fans actually WATCH wrestling and don't want the shows ruined by those damn spoilers. Anything Vince, Dixie, Hogan, and every other promoter/booker/producer do to curb the spoiler writers is fine by me.

Well I say good riddance to him. I say any one who is giving out spoilers should be taken care of. I mean now and days, spoilers ruin every thing.

Like for example, the IWC can be quick to read every spoiler in the world, and bash about it on the show or all week to the show comes up, then they just bash it so much where you just don't want to watch the show.

I think giving out spoilers early to a show is like texting people the answer on a text like 2 days before they take the test. Its just not suppose to happen.

I think if TNA kept there TV shows live like Raw does, then they wouldn't have to worry about it, because no one can find out a thing that they are going to do, and it will make the show that much better.

EDIT: I'm glad that John Benoit is not related to Chris Benoit. It will give the IWC another reason to bash on the Benoit family too.

  • I don't necessarily agree with his punishment. He probably wasn't the only Impact Wrestling fan sending spoilers while Impact Wrestling was being taped, he was just the only person to actually get caught. What he did to get caught, doesn't matter, but, I think they did over react a bit, with throwing him out of the Impact Wrestling zone.I agree with the fact that they lose viewers when people spoil their shows, but, he probably wasn't the only one spoiling the show.Shows have been being spoiled for years, there have been plenty of false rumors come around, and he is punished for sending a few spoilers, as if this will stop spoilers completely? They should have let him slide, I guarantee you that somebody else has spoiled Impact Wrestling by now, so his punishment probably wasn't worth it.

I've seen that name on spoilers before...I remember because of the last name. At first, I was thinking it was a plant to make people in the arena go, "wow, they mean business...I'm gonna be a good impact Wrestling audience member and not give away info."

This might be a good thing. I mean, if I don't know what's gonna happen, I'll probably watch. On the other hand, this says a lot about their audience size if IW guys & Universal guys go up and down the aisles looking for people texting.

  • My thoughts are that I hate people who will not allow me to enjoy storylines on Wrestling Shows as they unfold. I dislike people leaking results to matches. All Questions that contain Spoilers should be labeled as such, not every Questioner has regard for other people to do that. Not all of us want to know in advance. So good for TNA in kikcing this guy out. I hope other Professional Wrestling Promotions will do the same.

  • Finally justice is served. I stand 100% behind TNA. F*ck spoilers and those who leak them.

TNA has less audience so it's easier to spot someone filming. I believe if someone was doing that on Smackdown, he would be caught too and escorted out.

So what I'm sure there are several "disgruntled" employees in the back stage that can be sources for the "dirt sheets".
