German Shepherd/Border Collie Mix Male?
Okay, im getting a German Shepherd and Border Collie mix in 2 weeks. His name is Axel and He is black and white and very fuzzy. Does anyone know if this mixes ears stand up straight or do they fall down. And i need to know if they are good with other dogs because i have an older Golden Retriever. When we get Axel he will only be 6 weeks old. Thank you for helping me out ^ ^

No one can tell you what a mutt is going to look like since it all depends on whatever gene is the dominant ones that are carried forward.
This mix is not one I'd want much to do with...I hope you have a lot of extra time, patience and property as well as money to give this dog what he's going to require in addition to "normal" excessive exercise, since he'll probably need formal exercises as well like fly ball, search and rescue or other formal training to keep this mind from focusing his energy on other things.
Also, don't accept any puppy at 6 weeks, and frankly you shouldn't deal with a breeder who will allow a puppy to be adopted at 6 weeks -- for developmental reasons, he needs to stay with his litter mates until at least 8 weeks...while he'll already be weened from mom, between 6-8 weeks is when he is learning how to properly socialize and self-control (things human counterparts can't teach the way litter mates do) This means that you're already in for a lot of work because of the 2 breeds in the mix, but now you're looking at developmental issues from being separated too early...I hope you have a lot of canine experience and knowledge and even more money for the professional training you'll probably require for the developmental issues.
Good luck!

Is there a good reason you are getting him so young? 6 weeks used to be the norm for getting rid of puppies, but it is best if it's at least 8 weeks for socialization/behaviour reasons.
Anyway, as for the ears, either they will, or they will not; it's all genetics. If they're not up by the time teething is over, chances are . . . his ears will NOT be standing. However, a general rule of thumb is give it 7-9 months just to be sure.
Axel will only be good with other dogs if you train him and socialize him well! :)
(ps... socializing is also something earned in those precious 2 extra weeks with mom!)

If I were you, I'd rethink this... If they're letting the dog go at such a young age (TOO young to be healthy and well adjusted), they're NOT reputable breeders. And when you get a dog from a BYB or a puppy mill, you're HUGELY risking health and behavior problems. Plus, you're supporting a highly unethical, cruel, and unhealthy industry.
Aside from that, you can't predict the traits of a mix... There's no way to tell which traits the dog will inherit from each side.
For a pet puppy, why not go to a local shelter or rescue, or petfinder.com? There are SO many adorable puppies, just waiting to be loved and taken home!

his ears should stand up but they might flop over a little. He should get along with ur older dog. The older dog might get annoyed when he gets playful. The german shepherd/ border collie cross is a very smart breed. Hope this helps

as a puppy their ears flop down but when they get older caritin build up in their ears and makes them stand up. it will be good with you dog because it will grow up with him since a puppy. i had a pomeranian which is a toy dog and then we got a german shepherd and the shepherd loves him. but with other dogs outside your family it could depend on the personality of the dog itself so you gotta socialize this dog alot. my vet said wait till the dog is 4 months to bring her anywhere, but that was a mistake and she didn;t get properly socialozed so shes not good with other dogs so makes sure ur dog gets alot of socialization starting young. make sure he gets his shots though and make sure the dogs hes with dont have any worms because young puppys can get that easily. but yea since its a collie mix it will probly be more friendly than a pure bread german shepard anyway so its all good.
