some questions about Paranormal activity 1 & 2?

i know they have been out years, but last night i finally bothered to watch them lol.

i actually did think the films were real, and all the things that happend, did happen to all them in real life. till i looked it up and realised it was actresses and actors lol.

anyway my questions are, this katie and hunter, is where they are still unknown?
are films completely made up?
and also are the films based on true events?

hope some people can shed some light on this, cause im completely confused lol :/

You're correct, they're all actors. 
The story was fabricated, and it's not true. As far as I am aware, they're not based on true events. 

 As for Katie and Hunter, they're made up. They're not "missing" as this never happened.

As far as the movies go, Katie and Hunter's whereabouts are unknown.  The second film shows that Hunter is being sought by an evil spirit that bargained for the child generations before.  The second film takes place before and after the first.

They're both completely made up. They were just made in a realistic, documentary type way to increase the tension and atmosphere.

I believe the director made the first movie to prove a point to a friend that he could make money from making a low budget horror. I think the house where it all happened in the film may have even been the director's own house!

No dear, they are not based on any true event. The director randomly came up with the idea and they used his house for the film
