Take the hummingbird feeder down and sparkling it. Get each and every of the ants off and re-keep on with the vaseline. previously putting the feeder lower back up discover parts the position the ants are coming as a lot because the feeder from and spray with an ant spray or trojan horse barrier to give up their travels. Now positioned vaseline on something else that enables them to move slowly into the feeder. we've ants each and every twelve months. i have been feeding the hummingbirds for decades. yet another pest are bees. notwithstanding that is sensible basically to take the feeder down for some days. The ant spray can help keep those ants away. benefit from the hummingbirds. We basically love them too.

Some feeders have an indentation on the top which if you keep filled with water will prevent the ants from climbing down the feeder. In addition if you spray the rope/pulley with ant spray it will keep ants away.

buy or make an 'ant moat'....

    http://www.google.com/#hl=en&sugexp=ldymls&pq=bear...

easy to make with a spray cap, like on PAM.... heat a nail and put a hole in the center of the top..... put a coathanger wire thru it and bend both ends into hooks... then seal up the hole with silicone caulk.. inside and outside.....let it dry good... put the hook on the bottom holding the feeder and the hook on the top to hang it... I use S hooks, too..... fill the cap with water and keep it filled .... not only will it stop the ants if there's water in it, but the littlest birds, like chickadees will stop there for a drink!!... just be sure it is kept full of water.... I carry a soda bottle of water out in the garden with me just to fill my moats.....

she puts it on the pole, if it is hanging she puts it on the rope.

I use a fantastic and safe product to rid our homes of ants. It's main ingredient is the herb thyme. It works wonderfully and naturally. It will not hurt the hummingbirds. I would love to share where I shop with you. Check out my website. http://www.switchingstores.com/hmharter

Put a little Vaseline petroleum jelly on the rope and you won't get ants anymore.
