Could be low on oil... Or a weak oil pump... Or oil pickup screen is dirty... Hope this helps you...

Function of the oil light is to warn the driver that the car may be low on oil, so check that now. If oil is up to level then you've got another issue: Oil Pump, Sensor, Filter, Screen, The electronic unit that sends all this info may be bad. In any case I would change the oil immediately with 5-30. Run it a while and if light stays on then it goes into the shop.

DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT take your car on a long trip like that. You dont have have to have a oil leak for the light to come on. Your computer in your car is letting you know, that it is time for a oil change. If you were gonna just keep it local, it would be no need to change it right away. But for a long road trip you need to change it

Your owner's manual instructs you to get immediate service if the red oil pressure light is on. Read your manual. It probably says the car should be towed to the service shop to prevent engine damage in some cases. Until you know the true problem, it has to be treated as the worst case situation. If the dealer saw the red oil light warning on, you must have misunderstood what they told you. Like I say, read your OWNERS MANUAL and point out the instructions to the repair shop if necessary. You also may be mixing up oil change reminder lights with red oil pressure failure warning lights.

Don't drive it ! more than likely it is just a fault with the oil pressure warning switch on the engine, but it could be the oil pump or the oil pump drive, and if you drive with no oil pressure then you will wreck the engine, however, 95% of the time it is just a faulty pressure switch.

check the oil.... if it is full then it could be either the oil pump is about to take a dump or just a sending unit going bad. either way i would get it checked out.

NO! Your car is not safe for long trip. Get to a garage ASAP

Be real. If the light is on or even flickering it needs to be checked out NOW.

Have you dipped it to see how much is in there?

It could be something as simple as a faulty sensor
