Would you support an airline policy to ban adult male passengers from sitting next to unaccompanied children?
Qantas and Air New Zealand both have this policy, and British Airways ended such a policy less than a year ago.
This policy is based entirely on the gender of the adult and is independent of whether or not the child's parents are elsewhere on the plane.
Personally, I would certainly welcome any chance I could get to to be seated as far away from children as possible while on an airplane. But I would be furious if the airline staff ordered me to move seats just because I am an adult male and happen to be seated next to an unaccompanied child, whereas an adult woman in the same seat would NOT be ordered to move.
And even if it's in the interest of protecting a child from potential pedophiles and abusers, an airplane filled with hundreds of other passengers and attendants isn't exactly a windowless van.

sexism against males is everywhere.
Sadly most are way to blind to see it.
If you ask me sexism regarding men and their children is one of the primary reasons that men generally are so uninvolved with their children. Honestly what person wants to be accused of being a child molester continuously and on top of that has to continually bow to the will of the mother or risk becoming a deadbeat dad. quite honestly it si just flat out lose/lose for me.
I do it anyway, so I must be even stupider...

"This policy is based entirely on the gender of the adult and is independent of whether or not the child's parents are elsewhere on the plane."
If the above statement is correct, the policy is discriminatory. And if the parents are on the plan seated elsewhere, it should be their responsibility, not that of the airlines.
I'm with you, and I have two children! I want to be seated as far away as possible when traveling alone.

No, that's extremely sexist. When I was 11 I was very mature so I had a few conversations with an adult man over a 12 hour flight, would have been really bored if he wasn't there. Plus, I travel for business alone now, and I wouldn't mind sitting next to a kid, I'm not a pedophile.

I merely understand some airlines that unquestionably do this. i don't think of its honest, in the event that they do this then they might desire to additionally ban women human beings from sitting next to them. maximum airlines, reckoning on the form of united stateson a flight, will the two block the row from sale, or, if there are lots of them, seat all of them jointly close to the galley, even if that's on the very front or very back. it is so as that the team can surely save a watch on them and help them. whilst i grow to be 10 I flew British airlines Seattle-London-Cairo or perhaps although the two flights have been thoroughly finished, they nonetheless blocked an entire row for me. It grow to be very intense-high quality :-) yet not all airlines do this.

i would not support such a ban. it is sexist and discriminatory as others have mentioned. a woman can be just as inclined as a male to do something wrong and like you said if the child is unaccompanied there are how many other people on a plane that could do wrong? that's just a crazy policy

It is sexist. And no I would not support it. As if men are the only sexual predators, some woman do it too.
And as you said, it is a plane full of people. A child much safer there then the park or any other public place. So are they going to now ban all men from parks and other places that kids tend to be?

No- but I would support a policy banning registered sex offenders from sitting next to unaccompanied minors.
I flew alone at 12 and I believe I sat next to an adult male. I wasn't harmed in any way.

Absolutely NOT, for starters it discrimination which the airline could easily be sued over, airlines need to do what Amtrak does and put any and all unaccompanied minors together so this won't be an issue for anybody

no I don't think I would, when I was 8 I went on a plane by myself interstate, I was really nervous and was very glad to the business man who was seated next to me, he asked my about the holiday I was taking and told me about the business trip he was on, it was a nice conversation and really eased my nerves. btw I didn't know Qantas had this policy as I was on Qantas during this flight.

No, that is absolutely ridiculous, offensive, and indefensible.
I have absolutely no interest in being accused of being a predator. I would, in all likelihood, just get off the plane altogether and demand my money back. They can go to hell, I will not stand for being accused to my face of being a predator.
