What type of PVC Cement can i use with a natural gas line.?
I am repairing a damaged natural gas line that is running to a pools water heater. The pipe that is used is 1 1/2" sch 40 PVC pipe. I was wondering if there is any special PVC cement that i have to use with natural gas running through the line. I have asked people in all the local plumbing stores and no one seems to know if there is or not.
Also those of you who are saying that PVC is not allowed are only part right. it is allowed, but only for lines that are buried and outside the house/structure.

PVC is not designed for natural gas transportation either inside or outside.
You can use yellow polyethylene for natural gas outside use. Polyethylene is not sealed with a cement like PVC pipe. It is heat spliced using special equipment.
Please understand polyvinylchloride is not polyethylene. These are two substantially different polymers with different properties.
PVC is used in water plumbing but not to transport hydrocarbon gas like natural gas.

Medium density polyethylene yellow is used for natural gas, but PVC has never been approved for natural gas or LPG.

Maybe allowed, but dumb and dangerous.
Doesn't the fact that you're repairing the thing ring a bell?
