Are all our belief systems, concepts about ourselves & life,- part of our consumer needs to find satisfaction?

Are we all 'consumer' using what is offered in our society? And that includes all levels of our existence. We are very concerned about or body, trying to find satisfaction and well being. We are keeping our mind busy and there is a widespread offer that satisfies all needs to find all the knowledge we want. To satisfy our emotions, there is a whole industry that stimulates us when we don't find enough in our personal relations. Finding in this way motivation and sense that keeps us busy?

This seems to be all, but are we really all 'consumer'. Or is there something else? More *real*?

Please notice that this questions are posted in 'philosophy', so please stay in this and don't offer what you found satisfying as your beliefs, then trying to convince others...

Update:

@Eric Hayes: When I wrote: 'Beliefs' then I meant 'religious or spiritual' beliefs. But thinking about it, then also 'philosophical beliefs' go into the same.

Update 2:

@Don H: That sounds very spiritual what you write, but doesn't answer my question.

    There is so much more.

One might argue that life does not really start until we realize that nothing external is of any real value.

I don't understand this comment- "Please notice that this questions are posted in 'philosophy', so please stay in this and don't offer what you found satisfying as your beliefs, then trying to convince others..." Do you want people to give their philosophical belief or not? You appear contradicting. And as far as convincing others- no one can convince you accept you, right?!! However, I believe that yes, our society capitalistically speaking is geared toward "feel goods". It's unfortunately that most (if not all) fall for materialism as a means of satisfaction, joy, or fulfillment. Some people know that spiritual/mental is much greater than physical and pursue what they know to best in the long run and overall. They also know that if one has their spiritual/mental mind prioritized, clear, and accurate then the all the good physical things will fall into place.

We consume the the world as does all life. Life is a giver and a taker. Man has simply found a way to make consumerism a way to self satisfaction.

There was once an expression that said "sunshine and air are free." meaning that these were not taxable. Today they are. We pay for them through consumption taxes.
