How long should I boil a 31/2 lb whole chicken?

I have made chicken salad before but never used a whole chicken.

about an hour, but not a rapid, hard BOIL, but a gently simmer, bubbles barely breaking the surface.

Save that stock for other uses! It will freeze nicely.

I usually boil it about an hour or a bit more. Remove the skin first, though. It will just add fat to the broth, and your chicken is definitely NOT going to dry out while it's being boiled. When the chicken is really done, it pulls away from the bones and may even fall off them. That makes it easier to remove the bones, of course!

When the water boils for 2-3 mints add the chicken not before.

Not less than one hours and half and you have to reduce the heat to medium High to be sure that their will not be any blood close to the bones, And the chicken cooked well !

    Good Luck ~

60-75 minutes should do. You'll like the results better if you skin the chicken first. I prefer baking the chicken to boiling, but either will get it cooked.

The rule for most meats is 20 minutes per pound.

Bring to a boil & reduce to a simmer, test for no pink.

Bring to boil and simmer for about an hour and one half.

    But roasting is best. :)

    20 min per pound.

Season w dried herbs, olive oil, s and p.

For chicken on top of stove, sprinkle w paprika, garlic, celery salt , a dash of s and p.

Steam it or it will lose its flavor to the water.
