Where are the American troops predominately stationed currently?

Where are most of our troops stationed and what places have the most risk for them?

Update:

I suppose I don't have the "need to know" but my boyfriend is going into the Army in 5 days and I would like to know the places he may be stationed and how risky they may be.

I know we're not in any wars, but we still have troops in the Middle East and they aren't much liked over there.

I'm just curious of the possibilities as to where he may go, and the risks of those possibilities.

Most of our military bases are in America and our biggest base in Fort Hood, Texas. But your BF could be stationed anywhere in the US, Europe or Japan. And of course we have smaller numbers stationed in many other countries. But just looking at percentages his most likely possibility is the US South or East Coast. A lot of this depends on what job he chose. None of these places are particularly risky though who likes to drive in the Northeast!

You might not be aware that we currently engaged in a war in Afghanistan, still have Soldiers in Iraq and are at least engaging in bombing runs over Libya. We are not in a declared war, but for the Soldier on the ground we are very much at war.

If you do a search you can see a list of all our bases on wikipedia and how big the bases are. Good luck to your BF.

    The contiguous United States.

Deployed, Afghanistan, if you're looking for place with most risk.

These days the entire world seems to be on fire though.
