I'm a bro and a college kid. That's about it.

  • Internet is slow, just got router/wifi installed yesterday?

My roommates and I specifically picked out a fast internet speed (up to 50 MBPS) for the internet/cable bundle we got. Comcast came yesterday and installed everything, but our wifi has been incredibly slow.

I know it's a stupid question, but I'm trying to remain hopeful: after internet installation, is there an "adjustment period" where connection is slower?

  • From the formula F(n+1)F(n-1) - F(n)^2 = (-1)^n conclude that consecutive Fibonacci numbers are...?

From the formula F(n+1) * F(n-1) - F(n)^2 = (-1)^n conclude that consecutive Fibonacci numbers are relatively prime.

F(n) is suposed to be F 'sub' n, or the nth Fibonacci number.

When numbers are relatively prime, it means that their gcd = +/- 1, AKA they have no common divisors.

I'm assuming this equation needs to be manipulated to the point where it shows

    F(n) / F(n+1) = (-1)^n and F(n) / F(n-1) = (-1)^n

but this is my last homework problem and, after 6 hours of doing proofs, my brain is fried guys

The fact that F(n) = F(n+1) - F(n-1) is most likely the substitution necessary to manipulate the equation.

    Any help is appreciated :)

  • I divide 10 units into a quantity and a remaining part, so that the sum of...?

    The problem states:

"I divide 10 units into a quantity and a remaining part, so that the sum of the squares of the two portions is 58 units."

After I finally figured out exactly what it meant (worded poorly) I developed 2 equations:

    x = bq (quantity), r = remainder

    10/b = bq + r

    = x + r

    58 = (bq)^2 + r^2

    = x^2 + r^2

The correct answer is 7 and 3

    AKA b = 7, q = 1, x = 7, r = 3

I just can't figure out the proper substitution/manipulation to get there.

I've been staring at it forever, so it's possible my equations are poor or I just can't open my mind up to something new.

    Any help is appreciated :)

  • What's a word for an employee who does multiple tasks?

I'm filling out an application for an apartment and its asking my position at my current and previous job.

Both jobs are/were at ma and pa restaurants, and my tasks include(d):

-delivery driver (when we got busy and true delivery drivers couldn't take all the deliveries)

    -answered phones

    -took orders in store

    -work fryers

    -pack orders

    -wait tables

    -CLEAN

and whatever odd-and-end jobs needed to be done

So what the heck would I say my position is/was??

  • Prove: If x-y is even, then 15|N where N = xy(x+y)(x-y)(x^2 + y^2)?

Hint: split 15 into its prime factors

This was a question on my last test and I couldn't seem to prove it.

I know that if x-y is even, then x+y is even. Also, it means that either x and y are both even or both odd. And x^2 + y^2 is always even. And xy is even if both x and y are even, and xy is odd if both x and y are odd.

I also know that 12 = 1*2*2*3, meaning if 15|N N is in the form (1a)(2b)(2c)(3d) - its easy to show that 2 of the factors are divisible by 2, and all of the factors are divisible by 1, but how to show one of the factors is divisible by 3 is where I'm stuck...

Anyway, this was my thought process. If anyone could help, using the hint or not, I would appreciate it.

  • How to share videos on droid with mac with USB?

I've connected it and everything, but when I go to view the files the only pictures/videos that show up are from my old phone (that I had transferred with the SD card when switching phones).

I know the videos I want to share are on the SD card because when I remove it, nothing's on my phone.

It's not the length of them either, they're all under 30 seconds (which is the maximum length the videos that DO show up are).

Is there something I'm doing wrong?

  • How many miles is it safe to drive after your car needs an oil change?

My maintenance light came on last week and I've driven about 1200 miles since then (been all over FL visiting family). I know this is bad.

Anyways, I'm going to be going back to college and leaving my car for my parents (basically, I want them to do it and pay for it instead of me) in a few days.

I shouldn't be doing too much driving until then.

    Will my car be alright?

  • What are the most common positions political scientists fill?

Not political science majors, I mean actual political scientists.

I can only seem to pinpoint what they do and that they have a good job outlook, but I know that there's so many different positions within the field.

What are the most common job taken up by political scientists (besides teaching)?

  • What items can you receive in the mail in Army Basic Training?

Or what items can you not receive?

Whichever list is smaller I guess...

    My boyfriend's birthday's in 9 days. I'm mailing him a necklace.

I really want to get him something else, and I don't know what yet because I don't know what he can't receive?

If I send something he can't have (and that isn't illegal) would he be able to see it and they just put it with his other belongings for him to get when he leaves?

Or should I get wait until he gets out in October to get him a gift... ??

  • Anyone else bothered by the fact that 1/5 of LGBT's questions are placed in the wrong section?

I'm really getting sick of people putting unrelated questions in this section.

You get the option you chose the section you post in. How do all these people think LGBT relates to their question?

I've never seen a section get so many unrelated posts before...idk why this one does.

It's really starting to bug me.

  • How soon are you able to send letters in Army Basic Training?

My boyfriend arrived at Fort Benning last night. I understand that the first week consists of processing.

During processing, will he be able to purchase envelopes and stamps (conveniently!) and mail letters? Or is there a several day hold of some sort?

  • Is there a website that provides what careers can stem from majors?

I can't seem to find one.

I've narrowed myself down to about 15 majors and I'm trying to narrow myself down more, so I don't want to have to research each one individually.

I was wondering if there was a site the would provide a list of majors and what careers they are suited for?
