Robin Hood - Prince of Thieves?
Have just been watching on Ch 5 and there were bits in it that I have never seen before! Like when the Sheriff of Nottingham meets the leader of the Scottish Rebels for the first time!
Did anyone else notice this??

I didn't see it but I know a lot of movies are edited to make more time for commercials.

Some years ago, a director's cut was published, and since then mostly the longer version is shown.
I heard that back when the film was made, lots of Sheriff scenes were cut out, because Costner wanted it. He seemed to be worried that people could be on the Sheriff's side with his additional back story (SPOILER - that he's in fact the witch's son - SPOILER END). I think the film really became better with those bits, but I was on "Notti's" side anyway, because I think Alan Rickman played the greatest and most adorable villain ever.

This is typical. I do not know how it is with British film but in America they practically shoot two or three versions of a film. Then in future they paste it together in varying ways.
Sir Ian McKellen was watching "Lord of the Rings" and said he could not recall shooting some of the scenes! He added that the scenes he really liked were not in. That is the best comparative example I have for you.
Oddly enough, my wife [I originally wrote "my wide" :0] is watching this right now here in the old U.S. on telly.

Haven't seen this film for a while, but it makes sense there could be bits which have not been seen before.
