How do MLB Baseball players receive their payments ?

How do they get their contract payments ?

Every week from the beginning of the season ?

Every month of the year or the season ? Every game ?

Like most of the "working class", MLB players are paid at the beginning and middle of the month - usually with a direct deposit to a checking or annuity account. Signing bonuses and year end performance bonuses are paid in a lump sum, unlesss the player and team agree to deferred payments..

The CBA mandates payment twice a month for standard salary payroll, but any player can negotiate special payment plans in their individual contracts if they want (the CBA permits this).

Bonuses get paid either when earned (or the next payroll date, if appropriate) or per pre-arranged schedule.

The postseason bonus pool is disbursed within 30 days of the end of the World Series (and you betcha that MLB tends to drag it out to the last possible day).

The Blue Jays pay their players in US dollars.

They get payed the same way everyone else does... with money.

Seriously, though, the terms of their payment are delineated in the contracts (which is why the Mets are paying Bobby Bonilla and the Dodgers are paying Manny). They're paid on the payment cycle of the rest of the organization.

They're paid on the 1st and 15th of every month, with the salary spread out over a year. Bonuses obviously come up front.
