How Can I Get My Pickles Crisp?
My husband has made kosher pickles two different ways and the pickles are still not crisp. We have put them in a hotwater bath after canning and no bath at all. We have also tried alum...is there something we can do or and ingredient we can use to make the crisp!
The cucumbers I am using are anywhere from 1-3" long...and right from my garden.

Putting a grape leaf in each jar is supposed to keep them nice and crisp. If you don't know anyone with a grape vine (pretty much every neighborhood in my city has one somewhere), you should be able to get them anywhere they sell Greek foods.
My grandma makes refrigerator pickles. They're practically like fresh cucumbers. Edit: Except, you know, sour and pickled.

I'm guessing one method is the aging in a crock in a brine the other might be a covered jar kind of thing.
With both methods, it really depends on your cucumbers and if they aren't small and super fresh, they may never crisp up. The water bath canning won't change that.
They may still be really good if not super crisp. You might consider making a relish with them.
