What were your breasts like after you stopped breast feeding?
I am breast feeding my son and just wondering what to expect after I stop. I hope that I can breast feed him until he is a year old. If you breast fed for at least a year - what were your boobs like afterwards? Did they end up sagging or go back to pretty much normal?
Also to add - I was a small A cup pre-pregnancy - now with breast feeding I am a small B cup - so the change in my cup size was not dramatic like in some cases I have heard of.

A scientific study that studied the effects of breastfeeding upon sagging, found that breastfeeding per se did not have an affect upon the sagging. Pregnancy does because of the great physical changes happening in the breasts during pregnancy, but breastfeeding alone did not. According to the study, the following were risk factors for an increased degree of breast sagging: body mass index (BMI), the number of pregnancies, a larger pre-pregnancy bra size, smoking history, and age.

It is hard to say what will happen to the breast after you have weaned. You will notice that women will answer with many different responses.

Everyone is so different. Mine were pretty much the same as before pregnancy within about 9 months (I was still breast feeding). But I have heard people say they wound up bigger, or wound up smaller, or changed shape. If you are smallish you will probably have less chance of being saggy.

okay great answer from the Lactation Consultant.....and, mine were def. not the same
before my first pregnancy i was a tight 125lbs, size 7 with perfect 34B round breasts........with each of my 3 pregnancies I gained a lot of weight, was very swollen and my breasts increased in size significantly
after my two previous nurslings weaned, my breasts were more tear dropped and less perky, squishy and stretched marked
right now I am breastfeeding and they look pretty damn good and firm with all that milk making going on in there :)

I breastfed for 20 months, and mine are now quite saggy, but no more so than they've been for about the past year anyway:) Breastfeeding definitely does not leave you perky, but it's so worth it! I loved every minute and wouldn't change a thing:) I jsut found out I'm pregnant with #2, so we'll see what another 2 years does to them! :)

According to the latest research breastfeeding has no effect on sagging. Mine shrunk away back to normal. Can't say they were saggier as they were already saggy. Planning to breast feed for five years (WHO recommendation) this time, keep them bigger and give my baby all the wonderful health benefits I've read about. (and avoid cancer)

They'll be saggier, but that's due to pregnancy more than breastfeeding. They will probably go back down in size some too.

I BF my 1st son for 13 months. They ended up being pretty much the same, just a little larger & stretch marked from when i was pregnant :( unfortunately!

My boobs were much saggier, but I had also lost 100 lbs which caused part of the sagging.
