Is the academy of art university a decent school? Is it respected or would I just be wasting my time and money?

It matters which one you're talking about. The one in California supposedly has an ok reputation but some on the east coast are complete crap.

I didn't qualify for a California State University scholarship programme so I had to go through a different way to get my scholarship money.
Applying for this will not prevent you applying for your university's own scholarship scheme so you don't have anything to lose go on give it a shot.

Isn't aritistic talent inborn? I dont know the exact school you are speaking of but I know tons of people who went to the one nearby and spent a fortune and are doing something entirely different now since they couldnt get a job in ' art'
