kitten help! ALL ANSWERS APPRECIATED?

STOP AND READ THIS!!!!!!!!!!

okay so here's the thing,

i want a kitten REALLY badly, well actually me and my big brother's want a kitten, and the problem is, my parents BOTH won't let us get one!

My brothers are 16 and 17, and both have jobs,

i have a paper rout job(i don't get payed much, but hey its still a job!) so we can handle all of its money problems :)

i have had LOTS of pets before, but they were all pet's my mom had allergies to.

So, one day, me and my brother decided to baby-sit his[my brothers] friend's kitten, and when we got it, my mom was PERFECTLY fine, and she didn't react at ALL. The only problem was that the kitten wasn't used to humans because my brother's friend didn't take care of it well, so it DID have a bad habit of biting and scratching HARD, so, whenever the kitten came near my mom, it would attack her HARD and scratch up her WHOLE leg,etc and my mom has really sensitive skin, so you can see where THAT went. Anyways, now that, that happened, my mom doesn't want me to get a cat, AT ALL, because she thinks they are all like that since their still kittens.

me and my brother's were REALLY hoping that the kitten would help, but it made things WORSE,

a few months later, my cousin(and neighbor!) got a kitten, and she was an absolute ANGEL. i know all cat's have different personalities, but it just showed that with PROPER CARE, and LOVE the kitten would be good, anyways my mom never got to see the kitten before it was adopted(it was a foster kitten, and when my cousin decided to adopt it, someone already wanted to adopt it) so, my mom didn't see that.

Another problem is:

i have a little brother (hes 4) and my parents think he will kill the kitten, that's not true, because my brother is used to animals and knows that he has to be careful(he used to hold my hamster when i wasn't home, and MY budgies liked him more than me!) so you can see that he is a pretty smart boy :)

but my parents wont budge!!

And my final BIG problem is that my parents think cats stink, which they DON'T!

they think that they poop, and step on their poop and then walk all over the house with dirty paws -.-

*My parents are neat freaks and anything that dirties the house is a threat to them-.-*

Please don't tell me to show them im responsible because they already know that(i taught my brother hot to handle animals, and i trained ALL of my pets) but the only problems i have are the 3 i listed above! PLEASE HELP

P.S. im sorry its so long!

P.P.S. before i get hate replies about the other kitten(my brother's friend's kitten) i just wanted to update you that the guy's sister finally moved back home, and she takes care of the kitten, and thankfully it is 100% healthy and trained, the problem is, they moved, so i can't show my mom the kitten anymore

P.P.P.S. when my dad was little he had his own kitten that he LOVED

and my mom had her own kitten that she loved! they both like cats but they just don't like the problems i mentioned before

P.P.P.P.S i know that i will always love the cat, and i know its a commitment but that's no problem because ever since i was 8 i have wanted a cat, now im 14 and i STILL want a cat! (im an animal lover!)

I don't doubt that you and your brothers would be good cat owners. It certainly sounds like you love animals and have been good pet owners. Sadly, though, if your mom is this opposed to getting a cat, I don't know that you will convince her. My mom is allergic and just doesn't like them, and I never got to have one when I was younger either. :(

Your BEST shot at showing your mom that you're ready is to be very serious about the whole thing. Check out some books and visit some websites. Show her how much you are learning about cats. You probably want to look especially at materials that deal with cats and young kids, since she's concerned about your brother. Consider getting an adult cat instead of a kitten - explain to your mom that shelter cats need homes and that adult cats won't have the behavioral problems of kittens. And most importantly, don't beg your mom. Talk to her like an adult. Tell her this is really important to you and ask her if there is anything you and your brother can do to show her you are ready for your own pet.

If Mom still says no, become a shelter volunteer. Yeah, it's not as great as having your own cat, but you'll be helping cats AND learning about how to best care for them so that when you can have your own cat, you'll be ready. Shelters will allow you to volunteer as often as you want. Bonus: it looks fantastic on a college application.

    1. Kittens like to attack anything moving or unmoving. You will get scratches. My cat slipped while jumping up to my lap and the claws came out. I was wearing shorts and got a scratch all the way down my thigh… it hurt… a lot.

    2. Kittens will step in their own poop and make messes while learning to use the litter box. It happens. There will be hair balls, shedding… and other messes to clean up.

    3. Cats are often annoying and a pain.

Most people love their pets enough to accept the minor injuries, messes, and catastrophes. You can limit the trouble by: training, grooming, and taking good care of your pet. But pets are trouble, so don’t get one without anticipating it. Also, cats are nocturnal. Their favourite time to play is the middle of the night. If you live somewhere without a lot of people/traffic, it is best to put your cat outside at night. If you still want a cat (they don’t stay kittens), keep asking, but be realistic. Cats are never absolute angels except when they are sleeping. My cat is great company, smart, funny, and entertaining. The good does balance out the bad. You can’t promise your parents that your cat won’t get into trouble. You can take immaculate care of your cat and take care of any trouble it gets into.

okay so I have lots of experience with this. Litter box should be cleaned everyday twice or else they can step in their poop and pee and track it around otherwise they are usually very good about being neat. Without proper care they can be dirty and smell. However with proper shots and medicine and vet treatment cats are very clean and they prefer to go in the litter box. They have to be fixed as soon as their old enough and unfortunatel every kitten I've ever had or met jumps on your pants leg when your standing and it hurts pretty bad they have to be trained (screeched at) not to do that. But they only do that when theyre babies. If you have dirty clothes on the floor they do seem to b attracted to it and urinate on those I dunno why and my friends cat likes to pee on her bed. But my mom is a neat freak and has a cat door so they can go in and out and a litter box so there's never any problems like that and your moms a neat freak so it should be okay. Having one is a lot more respnsibility than ppl realize good luck

Ok follow this instructions and you shall have a kitten, buy a cheap stuffed animal, preferably a cat, tie a rope around it and drag it places (like you are walking a dog) when your parents ask tell them ( with a serious face) that since you're not allows a real one you are making do with that, pet the animal and cuddle it, take it everywhere! By the 4th day even the hardest parent will crack and let you have a real one or they sill think you are going nuts from lack of pet. Trust me, it works!

so what is your question exactly? looking for advice on how to convince your parents? how to have one without them knowing? how to have one but keep it somewhere else??? what??? obviously the only thing you can do is continue to try to convince your parents. but if they keep saying no, theres nothing you can do but wait until you have your own place and get a cat then. and cats can be kind of dirty, they dont nessissarily track poop everywhere (some do) but they can shed like crazy... i have two cats, and hardwood floors. they dont scratch, but i sweep a dustpan full of hair up every day... and every time i sweep there is hair floating everywhere. there is hair wherever they lay or spend a lot of time. your best bet is to just wait until you have your own place. if your parents say no, theres nothing you can do.

They are your parents and as long as you live under their roof you will need to convince them first.

Try babysitting another foster kitten (not a wild one this time) and see what your mother says. Usually cute baby kittens can convince anybody.

Another good one... show her some adorable videos of kittens on the internet.

    http://www.google.com/search?q=kitten+videos+cute&...

Here is a search that is guaranteed to bring up so much cuteness that your mom will want one for her self.

well try convincing your parents. do a lot of work to show your responsible. and kittens are really easy to potty train. you know when they have to go when they start digging around or meow a lot.

My advice just try to show them you can be very responsible. ask what you can do to earn a kitten. alot of people give them out for free. hope this helped
