22 years old wanting to get tubes tied...?

I am 22 years old and pregnant with my 3rd child. I was wondering what, if any, age requirement there was in Maryland to have my tubes tied. I really do not want anymore children. The 2 I currently have drive my nuts, god only knows how I'll handle 3 kids. I'll have 1 girl and 2 boys after this baby is born. I am married to the father of all 3 kids and have been since I was 18. He would certainly approve of this as well, since he does not want anymore children as well. And before we start on IUD's, that is how I got pregnant with this child. So, I'm done trying to find a temporary solution. I do not want anymore children. Just not sure if the doctor will allow it if there is an age restriction in Maryland. Thanks

Update:

I've heard the "You're to young" thing many times, but many areas have an age and # of children restriction. My SIL just had hers done and she's maybe 1 year old than I am, but she's in MI. I am not in MI, but this baby will be my 3rd. Many areas say you need to be above a certain age or have had so many children.

Well, when your youngest leaves for college, you will only be 40. You can still have a baby then, if you want one. Are you really sure that you don't want any more children? I think you should wait until after you have the baby to think about it more. It isn't reversible, so just make sure you thought everything through.

There is absolutely no legal requirement as to how old you have to be to get sterilization- if you are a consenting adult, you can.

That said, the "but" is if you'll find a doctor actually willing to do it. Unfortunately, many doctors exercise inappropriate control over a woman's right to determine when or if she has children by telling her she's "too young" or "might change her mind" despite evidence to the contrary- far too many here in the US practice this. Consult your own doctor about their own policies, and if they wont agree to sterilize you, go on a calling spree to find someone who will. You can also search childfree message boards and forums and the like to look for recommendations- I know some of the CF communities on LJ will make local recommendations for doctors who sterilize.

states themselves do not usually have laws or restrictions regaurding this issue. it's technically the doctors choice. most doctors will say you have to either be 25 or have 3 children, but you don't know until you ask the doctor. talk to the doctors that you are going to now for your pregnancy. if they won't do it call around and find out if there are any who will.

First off, I noticed your name and otep is amazing.

Secondly, why the hëll would you pay money to get your tubes tied when you can get $16,000 to sell your eggs? That's definetly what I'm going to do instead. Easy money and it'll go a long way helping you take care of your family financially. And bonus, you won't have eggs so you won't be able to get pregnant after wards.
