Seeing the good... seeing the bad... which would you prefer to help others see?

Does your choice reflect how you choose to see things on a daily basis?

Update:

Bond... are you saying we can only desire one, but not the other?

Update 2:

Robert, very good insight there!

Update 3:

Lorry, I think your eyes see things quite well.

since its a either or thing, i would help them see what they lack: help them see good to give hope to those who have been exposed to so much bad stuff which gives them something to strive for and become great people. help those who have seen too much good, to see some bad, as they tend to be spoilt when too much good is given to them.

I would much prefer to see the good and help others to do the same. This does come from how i see the world i guess. Even the darkest stormy days represent an interesting sky to be captured in a painting. Cold days mean snuggling up in front of a cosy fire. Mistakes in our lives gives us a chance to laugh at ourselves and also to learn a valuable lesson or ten. If you take note of nature, there is always something brand new each day to be enjoyed, from the smallest bud of a flower opening to the last petals dropping on a rose that has shared it's beauty. There are so many more wonderful things than there are bad, but i guess it all depends on what your eyes see. :-)

  • I would much rather help people see that good and bad are part of one whole spectrum of experience. There is bad in good and good in bad, they are inseparable because they are part of the same whole. It's like a cloudy day.. beneath the clouds everything is dark and dreary and grey.. but above the clouds the sun is still shining, and the sky is still blue and the clouds are brilliant and beautiful. It depends on what perspective you are viewing things from, but whether you choose to see the light or the dark doesn't erase the fact that they are two sides of the same coin. You can choose to focus on one instead of the other, but that does not make either cease to exist.

I believe that focusing on one over the other creates imbalance within ourselves.. If you are always below the clouds then everything you see is dark and dreary, if you are always above the clouds then everything you see is bright and cheery.. both singular views leave you unprepared for reality. It's better to see things as they are and not as we wish them to be... otherwise we leave ourselves open to be shattered by disillusionment.

I prefer to see things from every angle, rather than narrow my view to exclude the things I'd wish not to see.

I don't know - if the job is to see what's there, then, well, the thing is to see what's there. All of it. No glossing over, no over pessimism or optimism, just what really is.

But as to helping people, I think that while helping them to see a thing could be a service, and certainly is if you're teaching them something, say, still, there is a whole other category of help you can furnish too that is not intellectual. It would be support and accompaniment.

    So that package.

Breezey, you sir have very interesting questions. There is no point focusing on the bad things, life is much sweeter in it's passing if we focus on the positive side of the coin. One can be aware and positive at the same time. Your actions reflect your outlook. Weeee I like rain :D

If someone gets the wrong idea it isn't up to me to put them right..I'm not a negative person so that aspect can be seen obviously by those who actually take the time to notice my cheekiness is only in fun and with the purpose of keeping it light.

I would choose to make people see happiness over bad and good. Bad and Good are judgmental happiness is a feeling that inspires.

Absence of good is only a bad thing when one desires it to be. Bad is bad whether you desire it to be or not... Failing to recognise the bad is delusion.

If good is absence of suffering, then see that.

You will have to know them both.To be aware of one and not the other would put a dent in the matter of choice. To win in spiritual warfare you must know both sides of the coin.
