Why does there have to be twenty different spellings...?

Why does there have to be twenty different spellings of Jesus' name?

I know that different languages use different spellings. But when we're all conversing in English here, why do we get answers with YAHUSHUA, YEHOVAH, JEHOVAH, IESUS, etcetera?

Besides, when told you have to believe "in the name of the Lord", which name are you gonna believe in? One typo and you're scrod for eternity!

Update:

@sunshine, Re: "Please educate yourself ... google will help": I googled "jehovah is jesus" and got plenty of hits: http://www.lmgtfy.com/?q=%22jehovah+is+jesus%22

(and you also must've missed that I said "I know that different languages use different spellings").

The original "name of God" in the Hebrew text is YHVH, also known as the "tetragrammon". The Jews considered it blasphemous to pronounce the Name out loud, so in translation the words LORD or GOD (capitalized) are substituted for the tetragrammon. Scholars generally agree that if this set of Hebrew letters were to be pronounced out loud, it would be something like "Yahveh". "Yahveh" and "Jesus" are not the same name. IIRC "Yeshua" is the Hebrew form, and "Jesus" the Greek form, of that name.

Jehovah is not an alternative spelling of Jesus - they are two different names.

Please educate yourself - we must fight against this very basic lack of education: google will help.

Now, there are many differnt languages on the planet: French, Italian, English, German...

Names are written differently in different languages.

    Peter is English

    Peter in Spanish is PEDRO

    Peter in French is Pierre

... these are not differnt spellings these are different languages.

    Jesus is English

    Yahushau is hebrew

    Iesus is Latin (like Italian)

Source(s): Someone that knows how to google. EDIT And thus the limits of google...You need to use google wisely - education is not stumble on one site and figuring that must be right - if you wiki you will see the original names in HEBREW and see they are two different words. Feel free to email me if you need more help - knowledge is power. Jesus =/= Jehovah *** they are not different SPELLINGS of the same word, they are different words. To illustrate: is DOOR a different spelling of WINDOW or are they different words. DORE or DOORE may conceivably be different spellings of the same word, maybe say in old english or in a different dialect it might be SPELT differently. But "door" and "window" are two completely different words. "Jesus" and "Jehovah" are not different "spellings" of the word they are different WORDS. Google is king, wiki is prince. Help yourself.
