Sometimes, as I've noticed, Vets will give you medications and depending on what country you live in, it might be illegal for the animal to ingest it. When I was prescribed Metacam by my vet, a canadian antibiotic, the leaflet explicitly noted in bold letters to not use on cats. My vet said it was fine to use on my male neutered cat. It really depends on where you go.
According to the Rimadyl Website, cats (or people) should never be given Rimadyl. Rimadyl does not have an established safety record in cats and other animals. The veterinarian can recommend other alternatives for cats. Some veterinarians feel that Rimadyl should not be given to cats, while others may recommend it. Always follow the veterinarian's advice and ask questions when necessary.
Rimadyl oral is not approved for cats. Rimadyl injectable is approved for cats in the UK, but is not available in the U.S. ..Ask your vet about SAFER medications.
