What's the cheapest way to extend my Visa another 30 days?
Until I finish my TEFL teaching certificate and get a teaching job and a work permit, I need to keep renewing my Visa here in Thailand by crossing the border and coming back in. Land border crossings only extend my Visa 15 days, but flying into Thailand will extend it for 30 days. Last time I extended my Visa, I worked my way up north from Bangkok by bus up into Laos, and then flew back into Bangkok from Vientiane for an extra 30 days. Fun enough trip, but I don't want to keep doing it that way, and traveling all the way to the border to walk across and back in for an extra 15 days is totally inefficient. Does anyone know the cheapest/best airlines and which round trip routes leaving Thailand are the cheapest, starting from and returning to Bangkok?
And please try to refrain from telling me what I should have done before I left my country in the first place. I already know I dropped the ball.
Thank you!
Wow! Thanks guys and/or girls! That is some really good information and I wasn't aware that I could do that. And I wasn't aware of that restriction about doing what I'm doing for only 90 days in a 6 months period. That's very good to know! I should know these things already. I think that is the way to go; head out of the country and get a tourist visa at a Thai consulate. I think I will try Panang this time. Sounds like an interesting place, maybe.
Oh, and I did stay in Nong Khai for a night. I asked about a disco because I like to see the real nightlife, not shoot pool with the whores at the bars next to the guesthouses. When I got there (walking West away from the guesthouse area, about 15 minutes), there was nobody inside but the employees, so I went into the country style bar/restaurant next door, which is huge, and had a blast. There were tons of people in there eating, drinking, and dancing to this awesome Thai band that was playing stuff like Carabao. They were actually better
Hmmm, I'll look into that too Coconut Paradise. I'm trying to learn pasa Thai, but on my own. The little I do know opens so many more doors compared to when I didn't know any. I certainly don't get treated like just another farang here on vacation anymore. I'll see if that's a viable option for me, with costs and time, etc. Thank you for your input!

When you went to Laos you could have gone to Vientiane to the Thai Embassy and applied for a tourist visa or maybe two of them. For the 2,000 baht they may have cost you would be able to stay here for 60 days for each tourist visa and extended each of them 30 days at immigration. So you could have 6 months and only leave the country once every 90 days.
Also keep in mind that what you are doing can only be done for 90 days in a 6 month period. Not saying the immigration people at the border will count the days but it has happened in the past.
You can also if you want to try something different go to Penang, Malayasia to the Thai consulate if not Vientiane, Laos.

I did what you did, had a good time making my way up to Laos - with a stop in Udon Thani - but when I got to Laos, I just went ahead and got a 60-day tourist visa which can be extended another 30 days without even leaving Bangkok.
The last fly-out I did was to Penang, Malysia, and stayed in Georgetown for a couple of days. I think that time I got a deal on Malaysia Airlines, instead of the usual Air Asia. One time I got a deal to Hanoi - that trip was blast!

i've got self belief you get ninety days each 300 and sixty 5 days. yet once you probably did no longer use all of them final 300 and sixty 5 days, final years days are lost. in the adventure that your final flow to to the U. S. replaced into longer than one 300 and sixty 5 days in the past, you have ninety days. no remember if this is much less, you have 60 days, and then returned ninety days as quickly as the 300 and sixty 5 days is over. I additionally think of that when you have utilized for esta on line this is valid for 5 years (this might rely on u . s ., so verify on line). do no longer overstay your visa (no longer even via sooner or later) they are relatively strict with ever letting you into the rustic returned!

If your living in the Kingdom, and presumably training with a school, would it not be feasible to study Thai at the same time and apply for an Education Visa. Once granted the furthest you need to go is your Local Immigration Office
