Is it safe to feed your dog raw meaty bones when you feed kibble?

I know it sounds like a strange question, but everywhere I read said to use RMB to clean dogs teeth, so I decided to try it.

We skipped out for a few months because of family reasons, but we decided to try again because they work so amazingly well.

We gave both of my dogs some the 9th, and one of my dogs started throwing up the tenth. It was only a few times, so we didn't worry about calling a vet. She's back to her old self now.

Anyway, the vomit was basically stomach acid and a few pieces of bone. We thought she may have just caught something, and bone just came up.

Do you think the RMB caused it? Or that she just got sick, as humans do sometimes. They were pork necks, (the vertebrae of pigs, obviously). This is what we always give when they eat raw bones.

We feed TOTW Wetlands, mixed with Blue Buffalo Wilderness (All kinds) wet and Simply Nourish Sweet Potato and Salmon dry as well. (They get less then 1/8 of a cup of this, a day, though-it's high carb/low protein).

Do you think it's a good idea to feed RMB when I feed kibble, or should I just brush their teeth? One of them can't get their teeth cleaned professionally by a vet because she cannot go under anesthesia. It makes her extremely sick. It's kind of a long story but we don't want to make her go through it anymore unless absolutely necessary. The other dog, well, he can, but we have to talk to the vet about getting him scheduled.

The same dog that gets sick over anesthesia also got sick over the bones.

Sorry this is so long and drawn out, I didn't intend to tell life stories, haha.

Thanks much!

Update:

@gene: Dogs have different digestive systems then us, the bacteria is natural to process through a canine's system. I'm not going to cook a bone then give it to my dog. I will only feed raw bones, cooked ones splinter and cause blockage, internal bleeding, etc. I should have waited for this question, haha.

You can safely feed RMB's even if you feed kibble. I wouldn't feed them in the same meal, and would space them many hours apart. I know some people will mix raw and kibble, but for some dogs it can upset and I personally feel it can tax the digestive system to much.

It may have been that pork necks were to rich, didn't have enough meat, or she ate them to fast. When a dog eats to fast the stomach will sometimes go "Hey I wasn't ready yet, do that over" and the dog will bring the food up for a "redo".

I would try bone in chicken breast, or chicken leg quarters. These have nice meat to bone ratio, generally take more work to eat, and are easy on the system. Later you could even try some pork hocks or pigs feet, the tough skin is great for teeth cleaning.

Since those are going to be bigger than the typical pork neck you could also skip a kibble meal once or twice a week and feed the rmb as their meal instead.
