It is a 'friend' (I use that term loosely) who is also anorexic who supports what you are doing, and encourages you to do more starving. They help you come up with ways to help you maintain your destructive habits and so on. Kind of like a coach, but in an evil way.

    Well, there's two kinds:

    1. The kind listed, encouraging starvation; proclaiming that "ana is a lifestyle"; giving tips on how to avoid food, how to purge, etc; send messages that are like "stay strong! don't give in! thin is beautiful!"; and proclaim "ana to be your best friend"

    2. The supporter, a person who is dealing with an eating disorder just like yourself, who can comfort you, listen to your problems, and actually identify with your struggles. This kind is great for coping because it's hard to find people dealing with the same stuff that you are!
